30. Sheesh. (Because I leave near there, not because of actual secret content)

Though I agree that Remus/Tonks was forced as JKR wrote it, it's a lot more likely (as others have said before) that JKR wanted to give Harry an orphaned godson to compare and contrast with Harry being an orphan and having had Sirius as a godfather, so she picked two of the adult good-guys, paired them up, got a baby out of it, and killed them off. Thinking that she didn't like all the Sirius/Remus stuff she found online and that was the reason for Remus/Tonks is reaching.

05. I love the movie, and I quote it, but I haven't read the book... (I've looked for it, but none of my local libraries have it, and I'll be damned if I'm going to scour a bookstore only to come up empty handed.)

44. Some may not be up to par, but.. There are a lot of people who put their comics online rather than in a book to buy at the store because.. Online is much more current. You can check it every day a new comic comes out, and usually, they can be right on-point with their joke timing (since many tend to be funny rather than dramatical). Also: free is FREE, man. It doesn't take a genius to figure that one out.

45. I like the anime better because.. I'm not really into Arakawa's style. For me, it didn't flow that well. So after about 3 volumes, I stopped.

47 WERD.

49. xD Well since that's the parody version then.. It's canon!

09. And for some reason the creepiest ones can be found in the House fandom. More specifically with the H/W shippers which makes me sad and a tad bit ashamed. :(

47. JOEL MCHALE IS MADE OF SOOOOO MUCH WIN.

They need to clone that man and give a copy to every woman out there looking for a decent, nice and funny guy. I got to meet him once and he just totally fit the bill for me. Wish more men were like him.

10. Bad icons aside, there *are* more specialized comms you can friend for your non-Sylar/Sylar / Peter/Mylar slash fix.

41. lulz, Harry is so small compared to Ron and Hermione, it's like they're his parents and they're celebrating his making it with a girl in Divination by taking him out for his first post-conquest bender. ...Or something.

62. I bet you'd have a hell of a fun time trying. Skinner's so authoritative and hardass, rawr!

4. Yeah I've seen a lot of that on the art side of Fandom too. "How do you draw?" Uhh... practice? The internets just probably makes people expect easy solutions for everything.

34. I totally believe the only reason they didn't end up together was just because it would have been TOO perfect to have them all paired off with each other. The hints and interactions with those two were so quirky and fun D:

Nice placement 56 & 57 XD

59. Actually, you'd be surprised. I'm a het-only artist myself and I've had no problems finding a fanbase to share my stuff with. There are actually a LOT of het fans out there, the problem is just that they're lacking representation since yaoi fans are a lot more outspoken and fanwork productive.

1. AH! AGE OF EMPIRES 2! I love you so much. That where I learned a fair amount of my history too.
43. I miss that show too.

[identity profile] sanae.livejournal.com 2008-04-06 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
11. I do things like that all the time. @__@

31. BOKURANO. I love Bokurano. I care more about its characters than... the characters in pretty much anything else. They're just so much more human. So, word to this secret.

45. Okay, I've seen like eighty "wah wah manga fans are elitists" secrets, but the anime fans are still pretty much the dominant majority in the fandom. You're not being persecuted, some people just like the manga better, all of you stfu about it now.

59

[identity profile] maypirate.livejournal.com 2008-04-06 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
Late to the party, but that's the story of my life, hon. I can't explain it either and I wish I could. It's been a source of frustration for years.

Re: 59

[identity profile] ssjkuja.livejournal.com 2008-04-07 04:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Seconded. I must admit that I've found some yaoi art that I like well enough, the obsession/phenomenon boggles my mind. Bad experience with the worst types of fangirls hasn't helped much at all. It's good to know we're really not alone after all though, right?
(Err, hope you don't mind this being kind of late too.)

43

[identity profile] purplemoonshoes.livejournal.com 2008-04-06 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
You're not the only one- I love it too!

44 - I AGREE SOOOOOOO HARRRRRRD. I mean, webcomics can make me laugh..... but even the funniest damn webcomic I've ever read I can't IMAGINE paying money for. And I spend practically my entire paycheck on comics.

I guess I'm just an art snob. I appreciate the hard work, time, talent, and effort that goes into a comic book. I'm an artist -- I know how much blood, sweat, and tears goes into a comic. But 100% of the time (at least what I've seen), webcomics look rushed. Like the art doesn't even matter. And it fucking matters. More often than not, I feel like webcomics are comics made for and by people who can't draw.

I'M SORRY, IT'S JUST TRUE.

14

[identity profile] ricestorm.livejournal.com 2008-04-06 04:38 am (UTC)(link)
14. OMG have you ever seen 1776? Boy Meets World's Mr. Feeny as John Adams in a musical, yo. Rent it.

15

[identity profile] not-in-denial.livejournal.com 2008-04-06 04:38 am (UTC)(link)
15. I agree.

As a fan of TTGL, hearing about something that's supposedly "better," I immediately went on over to onemanga.com to see what the fuss was about.

Four hours and forty-seven chapters of Bokurano later: thank you. This is one of the best things I've ever read. I'm going to be recommending this to everyone I know--including fellow TTGL fans.

Sometimes I ask myself why I still read f!s every day. Then it leads me to something like this, and I know.

Thanks again. :)

Re: 31

(Anonymous) 2008-04-06 04:59 am (UTC)(link)
... I'm so happy that i could convert you =) haha I'm not anti-TTGL, I just didn't think it was that excellent... so don't get me wrong. But I am indeed happy that you liked Bokurano. Seriously, it made my day.

Having worked in a publishing firm for many years now, I have to say I disagree on the assumed conculsion that you think all published stuff is good. that is far from the truth.

Also, you fail to take into account the egostroking method employed by many people called 'self publishing', which I personally know a lot of people do after we turned them down. So personally, I find there is just as much epic trash printed material out there as there is on the Internet. Really, it's just a matter of whether you have enough cash to finance your own publications.

So even though I do somewhat agree that some webcomics are inferior, not all of them suck hardcore. There are things you have to consider when you want to make it in print with publishing houses, sometimes it involves a lot of copyright and content control which creators themselves are not prepared to deal with.

Just my 2 cents.

Re: 44

[identity profile] kanna.livejournal.com 2008-04-06 12:45 pm (UTC)(link)
hahahah, self publishing is "ego stroking?" I might be inclined to agree with you if you were talking about novels, but in comics self publishing is not only a perfectly viable, but often very successful option. Why don't you go talk to Aardvark-Vanaheim, Cartoon Books, or many hundreds of other self-published artists before you jump to conclusions?

29. Yeah, it's difficult to ship a pairing in which one is hopped up on crazy pills and the other is Far Too Sensible for craziness. I got nothin'.

42. At this point, I'm beginning to wonder how many people actually like Reborn and how many of its readers are only pretending to do so for a friend. Dear god, what if it only became this huge because two or three popular people thought it was great in the beginning? A fandom based on lies!

44. I will concede to you on one point: unfunny sprite webcomics are absolute shit. But so are the majority of published big-name comics at this point, thanks to money-grubbing crossover issues, recycled storylines (lol Jean Grey's dead again rofl), and "art" that is only salvaged by the fact that somebody else is doing the inking and coloring. With webcomics, it's easier to find and access the few that are actually worth reading, and the continuous storyline ones aren't likely to be completely thrown out of wack by changing writers. Most of everything is bullshit. This way I don't have to spend a fortune trying to find the stuff that isn't.

31. I could go on and on about how certain people have varying tastes and not everyone has the same criteria for an "epic series" than others, but I loved Bokurano and I loved Gurren Lagann. I think both are great series in their own right. Each has special characteristics and endearments. I could care less about which is "better" or more "epic".

47. Joel McHale makes me happy in my pants. :> One of the upsides of watching The Soup, haha.

2 - I'm not really a slash fangirl, but I actually don't see how those two pairings are crack. (I still ship Harry/Draco even after growing out of my hardcore slasher phase, and while I don't ship it, Fakir/Mytho does kind of make sense.)
49 - ... >_> If you find anything, links plz. **shame**

I've always thought of Fakir/Mytho as crack. Though, eh. I prefer it over Harry/Draco. Harry/Draco's only basis, really, is angry hatesex. And maybe that one scene where Draco's crying over the sink. Not everything can go on just that. >_>
