40. HOMG. LORNE. I haven't thought about him in ages! Damnit, now I want to go watch that show again. :/

41. That would be utterly awesome. DD:

44) That's okay, because no one cares what you think about them. Seriously, why should they when you say such silly things.

45) It makes me inexplicably sad when someone's wank war permanently turns someone else off of something. I hate it because it's happened to me and I pride myself on being able to tune other people's opinions out if I think they are full of crap. I love FMA, but I won't read RoyAi in part because of the batshit shippers and the smarmy attitude that some ships are more legit than others. I've encountered this in the Dr. Who fandom. I don't read Rosefic, not because I don't like her character. I thought she was kick ass, but the shippers turned me off so badly it's now all tainted. of course it doesn't help that both ships tend to be written mercilessly vanilla and consensual.

And by the way, Hi.

Vel, how ironic is it that we just commented on the same secret one right after the other. One would think we are some deadly, coordinated strike team.

That's really sad because I think you are depriving yourself of some really great stuff. I am glad I am a fan of both, and think neither superior to the other. It's two tellings of the same wonderful characters. I hope you can find a way to disassociate yourself from the wank, pick up the manga and find the story anew. It's really worth it in the long run, all the more FmA to love. =)

I hope I'll get over it eventually. Possibly just enough time will fade the negative associations.

44:
I know that you're probably a troll, but just in case you aren't I'd like to show you some webcomics that I think are at least as good as those you get in stores.

Digger (http://www.graphicsmash.com/comics/digger.php) by Ursula Vernon is very professionally done. It's got lovely art and characters, and the kind of slightly twisted humour that I really enjoy.
and
Lackadaisy (http://lackadaisycats.com/) by Tracy J. Butler has dynamic, pretty art. I can't believe that anyone could read it through and declare that it is worse than you find in a shop. Go for it! It's not very long just yet. Once again, fun characters abound.

Re: #44

[identity profile] ryuutchi.livejournal.com 2008-04-05 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Lackadaisy is being published, though. So... Does it count as a webcomic in this person's estimation?

Obvious troll is obvious anyway.

Anonymous commenter is trolly, wow.

3. ...For the record, not all of us in are in fandom because we're lonely. I apologize if you weren't trying to imply anything along those lines, but that's the impression that I was getting.

11. I sometimes do that, too, although it doesn't bother me too much. Of course, the effect is kind of ruined because I sometimes have to read a real walkthrough. :p

43. I could have sworn I saw that on just a few days ago. Now, what channel was it on....?

44. My dog and I ate at Sonic for lunch today.

And I'm sorry, but the placement of 56 and 57 makes me laugh much harder than it should. XD

43. It was on Nickelodeon. :)

04: Oh yeah, that annoys me too. Not that anyone asks me for help/tutorials, but I see it everywhere. I only go to tutorials if I just CANT figure something out, and if there’s no tutorial? Experiment time, woohoo! Besides, tutorials don’t help in developing one’s own style.

34: You know, I can actually see that. Be one crazy couple, but cute ^^

43: I kinda liked that show too, lol. I started watching it when nothing else was on. Not bad.

44. Sooooooo...what about those webcomics that HAVE been published and I can go into a bookstore and buy?

[identity profile] katamanda.livejournal.com 2008-04-05 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
A lot of webomics are actually in print as well as being on the internet, and some artists earn a living just from their webcomics. The internet is just another medium for enjoying comics on, being printed doesn't make it automatically better. A lot of printed comics are shit.

24

[identity profile] somatosensation.livejournal.com 2008-04-05 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
OMG ME TOO ARGH

COCO IS SO CUTE

And there is like, wank in various places about how girlie he is.

">:E Cross dress shotas are lame. They're loli traps."

>/ stop bitching and accept the only shota hentai show out there, gaiz. Chico is pretty masculine

Re: 24

(Anonymous) 2008-04-06 10:47 am (UTC)(link)
op here. At first I didn't like the look of CoCo so much, but then, he grew on me, haha. I've seen the wank about that too, the shitstorm is partly why I want to see it so badly. The worst is the yaoi fangirls on Aarinfantasy who are bawwwing about it when it's not even aimed at them [or me]!

So would I.

(And how nice it is to know I'm not alone! :D)

[identity profile] iapetusneume.livejournal.com 2008-04-05 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
1. Man, I remember playing the demos and always being sad when they were done because I didn't have the money at the time to buy the full game.

15. Totally agree. What about the final fight? I don't think I've laughed so hard in a long time. (Or the magnificent ending!)

29. HOGFATHER! I'm on such a Pratchett kick right now. And I can't really think of Teatime ending up with anyone (he freaks me out just a little too much.)

44. I've seen comics having a great split in it for a long time now, and the web recently added another split to it.

You have comics like DC or Marvel or Vertigo (or others) who release their comics in an issue-style, and it's very difficult to pick up an issue and read it as stand-alone. Then you have the comics that are in the Newspaper, which are significantly shorter because of space restrictions and short attention spans. I think that webcomics are somewhere in between.

Also, some of the content in webcomics is not the sort of thing that a newspaper will pick up. This doesn't mean it's bad, it means it needs to find a different audience.

To use a clichéd metaphor, it's like comparing apples to oranges. (Or maybe apples to oranges to kiwi.) All these are forms of comics, but it doesn't mean they're the same thing. And of course, not all forms will necessarily appeal to everyone.

55. Good lord, am I the only Creative Writing major who had professors who were impressed that I wrote fanfic? They look at it like writing excersizes, and didn't have issues with it as long as we only did it for fun.

I'm getting back into writing fan fiction so I can have fun writing again. I think that sometimes you need to do things for yourself and not worry about if the piece you're working on is going to get published or not.

Seriously, don't be ashamed. Think of it as practice.

[identity profile] gyllespi.livejournal.com 2008-04-05 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
44. Uh, you know that several webcomics are published in bookstores across the US? PVP ...obviously not. Do some research next time, or stfu.

45, 59. - 60, 62.

[identity profile] hyper-vigilant.livejournal.com 2008-04-05 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
45. Oh noes! Something similar almost made me hate my first official ‘net fandom, and I resented the fact that haterz killed my love (temporarily, that is). Then I realized that the only person who had the power to mess with my mind and my feelings is ME. I realize that I make mistakes, that I don’t always make the right decisions or even come across all that maturely. However, I can have the courage of my convinctions, I can reach out to people who are like minded and I can take care of myself and my friends.
Honestly, what else can you do? It isn’t your obsessions’ fault that it isn’t human nature to get along. OTOH, I do understand. ^.^

59, 60. Since these posts are essentially the same thing, let me assure you that there’s nothing wrong with shipping heterosexuals. Slashing for many girls is ALL ABOUT COCK. COCK COCK COCK COCK COCK COCK COCK. (Just in case you didn’t get that). LOL. Wow. I’m mildly appalled that writers have been criticized for NOT writing slash and or yaoi. Have people forgotten how to think independently?

62. LOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!

(Anonymous) 2008-04-05 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
NS!3: You do know that if Tsubasa had been on hiatus for 5 years a shit load of fans would be acting the same way about Kurogane and Fay, right? I daresay they'd be 1,000x more obnoxious as well.

15, 30

[identity profile] lucia-tanaka.livejournal.com 2008-04-05 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
15. SAME. The cake is funny and a good catchphrase, but the best part was the final fight. That shit was hilarious.

30. Have you never heard the awesome stories Dan Patrick and Keith Olbermann tell about their ESPN days? You poor thing! Reality > Sorkin'verse, though just barely.

[identity profile] phnix-daft-mode.livejournal.com 2008-04-05 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
20. IA. It's sad that people get so worked up over things in fandom. I mean fandom is supposed to be fun but when someone get so fired up over fanfic/fanvid/fanart/shipping/and so so forth, it's kinda pathetic(not saying I was never guilty of these things). Yes, some things in fandom are worthy to get angry over but dude, get over it. In conclusion, fandom is NOT serious business, people.

26. Nothing to do with the secret but rather the picture. Is it just me or does Tonks's arm look left arm look really awkward there?

47. A Joel Mchale secret? In my Fandomsecrets? it's more likely than you think! But yeah, he is hot. *loves him*

44

(Anonymous) 2008-04-06 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
CAPITALISM IS THE ONLY WAY!

But... what about the people who read fanfic?

Or, what about the people who read secrets for free? Maybe I could get so much better secrets if I just payed for them.

I find it to not be a coincidence that my computer temporarily froze when this first loaded. Yeah, the badfic/badicons thing is getting a bit nauseating. I'd go tell that to this person's face, but it'd probably just be a waste of time.

[identity profile] swivelchair.livejournal.com 2008-04-06 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
02. Haha! South Park slash FTW.

15. I like the song at the end, personally, but I haven't played. I want to, though. Oh god, I want to.

20. Amen.

45. Aw, that's unfortunate. The manga's the only one I care to keep up with anymore, but I've also made a point to stay as far away from the rest of the fandom for now. They're all fucking batshit.

60. Seriously?? Damn dude, that SUCKS. But if your friends are that psycho pissy, maybe you should just tell them and then force a chill pill down their throats.

Re: 45

This makes me sad because not all of us are. I suppose there's no way to convince you of this, though.

05 - I hate it when people bitch about a movie based on a book/comic/whatever not being exactly the same as the book/comic/whatever it was based on.

31 - ....most people I know don't like Gurren-Lagann for the characters' depth. And if they did, it wouldn't be just because they look like aliens. XDDDDD

45 - =( But but but Hohenheim!!! He is so much cooler in the manga. =(

(Anonymous) 2008-04-06 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
24: Me too. Boku no Pico is awesome, period.
53: I agree, Shinji/Kaworu = OTP <3 I also don't mind Shinji paired with anyone else, except I hate Shinji/Asuka. Not due to hating Asuka mind you, it's just that those two aren't right for each other at all.

(Anonymous) 2008-04-06 08:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Shinji/Asuka actually scares me. >> I agree, it just doesn't work.
