WTF?

(Anonymous) 2016-09-14 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
The thing that really bothers me about her, the ONLY thing, is that her tongue seems to be frequently coated and she is in need of a tongue-scraper, especially if she's going to be sticking her tongue out! Incredibly dumb, I know, but every time I see her with her tongue out I wonder why no one has shown her the wonderful device that is a tongue-scraper.

Hurt/Comfort is my go to. Especially platonic hurt/comfort.

But if I am just looking for something to cheer me up, I have several deaging fics bookmarked.

I ignored the bit about fiction in general! I think the only 'go to' I have for that are Laura Ingalls Wilder books and some comic collections I have (hyperbole and a half, Get Fuzzy).

Little, tiny things they get right in historical fiction. Like "They got the right material and weave for that throw rug in the corner!" or "That dress is accurate right down to the last bead!"

Also, little things that no one else pays attention to, like shadows, the way a tree moves, or the way clothes fall on a person's frame.

I cut them myself usually and they are always terrible. Sometimes I let my sister experiment on my nails with different polish and designs.

You mean you haven't heard all those gay man saying, "goddamn it, I'm jealous of those lesbians getting represented all the time, wahhhhhhh"?

Why you freezing where I clarify I was not referring to Philstar? You might as well shut down the entire thread there, and not just me, because I was saying nothing more than anyone else in it.

There we go, that's the tinhat nonsense I was hoping for! Fantastic.

I have to say, I don't get why objectivism is bad. I get why it's bad when taken to the extremes, but that's the case with everything.

This was my first thought, and yet, an adaptation is/was in the works.

Oh gosh, this so much! I know pretty criers exist in real life, but a messy crier feels more realistic and that makes their sadness more poignant.

Also, I love seeing Sam cry too. Really, any guy messy crying is great. I'm sure I have a problem.

Homeschoolers do still go to public places, you know.

(Anonymous) 2016-09-14 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
They don't stay at home forever. They just stay until they're 18 and then wander, poorly educated, poorly socialized, and in this specific case, riddled with communicable diseases, back into mainstream society. Like a human dirty bomb.

I, uh

I think you need to read that comment a little more closely, because AIRT did say "it's fine to wish someone dead." That implies that they are wishing Jenny dead and are trying to morally justify it.

Well that wasn't nice of her! (But if your nail beds size bugs you, you can lengthen them slightly by pushing back your cuticles on a regular basis. Just make sure your cuticles are soft and pliable, like right out of the shower.)

Cinematography.

On the flipside, I notice a lack of background music a lot and it really bothers me

ME TOO

(Anonymous) 2016-09-14 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Why is it one thing at the expense of the other?

Also I can't help but feel there's more lesbian representation in kid/YA stuff is because they're "safer", and who doesn't like seeing two pretty women.

Yes, so agreed.

I bite my nails, so they're really tiny and gross. My godchild likes to give me manicures and she gave me one yesterday, so my nails are pink today. I paint my toenails because the bare nails are ugly with little cracks in them. My favorite color is black because it reminds me of fun stuff that happened in high school.

"Well I'm sure you'll all be happy when the laws go that way and peopel are literally prosecuted for not vaccinating."

Yes. I'll be very happy.

I think the issue is that we see "wishing someone dead" differently. When I hear most people use that phrase, they don't mean immediately, right now as they speak. They mean it as an eventual, general statement in the "ugh, I wish she'd go off and die somewhere" way, not the "I wish she'd drop dead right now at my feet" way. It's a bit difficult to explain but they hold different nuance for me and the former is a lot less vindictive.
