You I don't think anyone can ever accuse anyone of being a bad fan like that, because the band is there for you to get into at your convenience not theirs. The thing is, if the music means a lot to you then you've given them what they really want, someone who connects with the music and adores it. It doesn't matter when you got into it, that's inconsequential, as an artist it means more that someone will connect on an emotional level with what you've produced than you'll ever be able to express. It's why they play, you're essentially giving back to them the love they've put into making these tunes.

Make love and give love, at least that's my philosophy when it comes to music.

Also, I saw them in concert in February - they were awesome. Seriously.

38. Well, first off, sexist Japan, lol. Second, Luffy is sort of Peter Pan, so it would be weird if he were a girl.

I see what you're saying, and I don't think that Luffy being a girl would be terrible or anything, but it would change the feel of the thing. Instead of being "Friendship and following your dreams!" it would be "Girl power and following your dreams!" Not to say that there's anything wrong with girl power. It just isn't the message of One Piece.

I assume that people like you< are the reasons secrets like that are made. I'm not a big anime fan, and my exposure to most series is limited. However, I still think it's hugely ridiculous to imply that if a character is female, the entirety of the ideals that they possess is warped into something different.

Believe it or not, characters with their own particular quirks and values exist outside of gender, race, and other 'classifications.' Luffy being female wouldn't change One Piece all that much, provided that she was still...well, written as Luffy. If she had the same personality and goals, why the hell would One Piece send a different message? Because breasts change everything?

Basically what I'm saying is that people who seek out quality books will find your friends book no matter what, but people who appreciate good writing are actually few and far inbetween in the general population. Don't base popularity or selling rank as entirely being dependent on quality, because that is going to invite a lot of misery. :(

01 -- Oh, can I relate. I actually wanted to make a secret about this myself. I really, really admired this one woman's writing (I don't think we're talking about the same person 'cause fandom is completely different) -- and then I got to know her.

What is not helping is that she is having more, and more, and more outright sueage in her fics by the day. And... yeah. Let's say I'm completely disappointed -- in the person she turned out to be, as well as by the direction her work is taking.

I think the only thing that makes it better is that she doesn't really like me and my work either lol. So I don't really feel bad for thinking she's lame.

Embrace your inner domina ^_~! You would be *utterly astounded* how many men actually *want* to be dominated. There's someone for you to top out there!
