Willow Rosenberg. Onto season 4 on my Buffy rewatch, and I'm really loving Willow this time around. The way she's protective of Buffy with Riley and yet wants Buffy to be happy and so helps Riley know what to say to her. I may hate Riley/Buffy, but that scene was just adorable. And looking forward to getting to the start of Willow/Tara.

Oh my gosh am I in love with Katsuki Yuuri from Yuri on Ice. I know it's the new, cool, explosive tumblr fandom, but it actually is such a lovely show, and he's such a good protagonist. He's sweet, determined, endearing and funny, and he's quickly climbed up near the top of my favorite characters ever list even though the show's not over yet.

I'm playing Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories. I liked Sora to begin with. Now he's being kicked around like a football and it's making me feel emotions, damnit.

Also, I missed Organization XIII Fever the first time around, but now I think I see what everyone else did in them.

Weekend Plans!

[personal profile] kaijinscendre 2016-12-10 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
I am going to play a lot of Overwatch as I avoid the cold. I also want to bake some cookies to mail to my family back in SC. I ALSO want to make some sugar cookies with my 3 yo nephew that he can help decorate (any tips for icing/frosting that clumsy little fingers can handle is welcome). And then I got to make orange cinnamon rolls to bring to work on Monday. So a lot of gaming and baking for me this weekend.

What about you all?

Was I unreasonable, FS?

(Anonymous) 2016-12-10 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
I ordered two tops from a company back in November (on the 15th). When I received them, they weren't what I was expecting (one was not as described/pictured and the other was cheap and flimsy for the money). I shipped the tops back using FedEx the next day and saw via tracking number that the company had received the return within a couple of days. I wasn't expecting my money back RIGHT THAT INSTANT, so I waited. And waited. And finally this week on Wednesday I contacted them via email and asked where my refund was. I was told that the person who does refunds was "waiting for the OK to refund", and so I waited some more. So this afternoon I still hadn't gotten my money back (I paid via PayPal so it should have taken no time to go on there and refund me). I went on PayPal and filed a dispute claim, and wouldn't you know it, within ten minutes I had my full refund! I also had a rather passive aggressive email from the company saying how surprised they were that I had filed a dispute. I didn't think lighting a fire under their asses to get my money back was surprising, especially since it has been over a week since the tops were received by them. I'm not appreciative of that email, and won't be doing business with that company again. Did I overreact, FS???

Where did "anti-PC" backlash come from?

(Anonymous) 2016-12-10 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
Following up on the subject of what is and isn't censorship, I'm wondering exactly why there's been such a backlash against "political correctness".

On one of the forums I go to in my fandom, one of the more prolific moderators is a Trumpian conservative who occasionally makes topics in our off-topic area about how Trump will save America and how liberals are secret commies. He recently made a post about how Rogue One will tank like the Ghostbusters movie because of "political correctness", and I'm utterly confused about why anyone would react so ferociously to the presence of minority characters in a sci-fi/fantasy setting (especially since the main fandom on the forum has several significant minority characters), and how I'm pretty sure Rogue One will not tank because 1) large fandom and 2) Disney.

Then I remembered that before Trump there was a cottage industry of "anti-SJW" Youtubers - the Internet Aristocrat, Sargon of Akkad, etc. I'd almost consider them the frontrunners to the people on Breitbart in their arguments and politics. Any valid points these people make about censorship IMO are obscured by the issue that they seem to be care less about protecting free speech and more about the ability to be an asshole online without being called on it.

I don't understand the appeal of these people myself, but I've seen multiple Internet users I know turn to them and view them as protectors of free speech after they've felt antagonized by Tumblr leftism. So I don't understand the appeal of "anti-SJW"ism, why these guys are seen by even some former liberals as free speech champions rather than the more moderate liberals I have seen, and why there's been such a backlash against the idea of PC-ness in the first place.

These kissless lips would passionately make out with sleep if it had physical form.

Get your 8 hours or literally die an untimely death.

And don't give me shit like "i have terrible time management so i'm pulling an all nighters and i'm injecting pure caffiene into my blood stream" and "well actually a polyphasic sleeper so i'm slowly killing myself and my brain function." You know deep down, what you what you really need to do.

Grab that pillow, bury your head in it, and get the best damn sleep of your life.
