16. I don't think anyone in fandom is there for the realism. Realism, while good in the context of making life decisions, is not necessarily entertaining. I'm glad that you know the difference between real gay men and fictionalized "uke" boys, but there's no standard of comparison anyway between the sphere of reality and the sphere of fantasy.

18. I'm very curious as to why you think this way. There was no indication before you saw that picture that you might harbor feelings toward the same gender? (Also, are you male or female?)

59. This isn't a matter of sexual preference: it's a matter of human needs. Humans desire security amongst themselves and their bodies. Violating that security is one way of oppressing someone. So gay or straight, it's irrelevant. Molestation is the undue violation of our inherent need to be secure.

12: LUCKY STAR! I just finished the last episode yesterday, and I just loved the whole series SO MUCH. I usually prefer adventure/mystery, but something about this anime just grabbed me. And not just because I felt I had a twin soul in Konata. XD

Anyway, I tried to find some fanfic too, just the cute sort, with hand-holding and maybe a kiss or two, but there weren't any. Why? There's even subtext! This anime should have a thriving fandom! Though I suppose most of the fanfic-writing fandom just haven't seen it. *sigh*

20: There is that, of course, but I also wonder what's so inherently wrong with liking a different body-type than the stereotypically muscular and hairy one? It's not as if variations don't exist in real life.

27: I had the thought myself, when playing OoT. I think it would be cute!

49: I do agree, in a way, but writing a story is hardly the same as reading one by someone else.

51: Well, consensual incest in the same generation is taboo, but I'm not so sure it would always be wrong. I know for a fact that a brother and a sister once got special permission from the state to marry (though it's been a good fifteen years since I read the article).

But here, again, I must say that if you cannot separate fiction and reality (I love murder mysteries, the more deaths the better, but I wouldn't want them to occur for real), you have a much bigger problem than your choice of reading material.

Exactly the same happenned with me and I still haven't recovered from it.

Gah, awake at half past two in the morning. For want of anything better to do, I thought I'd check out the people mentioned in that John Barrowman interview as having been presented with the peen.

Again, I've got nothing but sympathy for the OP, who was right to be concerned. And it's understandable that some people just find these shenanigans distasteful. But reassuringly, there doesn't seem to be any evidence of actual sexual harassment - just silliness. (I did find an interview with JB where he admitted the joke was "getting a little old". :-)

37. WORD. I'm not into slash, but Bush is, like 1,000 times hotter than Archie and he and Horatio kick so much more butt together. It made me so mad to see a lot of Bush's lines and stuff given to Archie when in the books he was GONE ALREADY.
