35.YES YES YES

I squealed out loud when I saw this secret, because YES. YES YES.

It breaks my heart to think that what Owen felt for Sassoon (and it's so obvious in his diaries and letters home, you don't need to own slash goggles to see it) could have been unrequited.

On the other hand, it would also break my heart to think that Owen wrote to Sassoon, and Sassoon openly rejected him. NO. NO NO.

*sigh* Maybe it's better that we'll never know.

Re: 35.

[identity profile] athousandwinds.livejournal.com 2008-05-21 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, Harold Owen once thanked Sassoon for burning some of Owen's letters to him? I don't know if that helps.

God, this year he gets to turn poor Pixie into a porn-star-by-proxy. I weep.

I want a husband who would put a hit out on someone for me... because someone made a fat joke about me, and I am completely SERIOUS. I love you, whoever you are. Nobody understands how Johnny Sack is unbelieveably awesome. And nobody understands my absolute love for The Sopranos, me being a female and all that.

35. You're not the only one. Come friend me, I need support against those damn Sassoon/Graves shippers. :p And it's not unlikely, in fact, since we have one surviving love letter (which I am trying to find so you can read it - okay, this is annoying me, I can only find it quoted here (http://books.guardian.co.uk/review/story/0,12084,924120,00.html), the bit about "Christ and Keats and Elijah") and Harold Owen actually thanked Sassoon for burning a number of letters Owen sent him. There's some extracts here (http://tiamatschild.livejournal.com/76831.html) and of course the WOMDA archive (http://www.hcu.ox.ac.uk/cgi-bin/jtap/catalog.pl?mode=browse&search=letters+from+Owen&submit=Browse), which are all letters to his family but if you read the letters to his mother, there's a lot about Sassoon in there. Also, Not About Heroes uses a lot of their letters to each other.

So yeah. Um. Friend me!

63) If you're anything like me, you got into it before every song was crack :( Oh OldCast...I miss the times when the crackiest song was Moeru ze, Burning Burning! with BackupDancer!Fuji+Eiji+Inui ;_; I can't stand any of the last 5 or 6 myus, just because...ugh :/

For less crack, better singing/acting/dancing, and where-all-the-good-TeniMyu-actors-went, I recommend Rock Musical Bleach (http://community.livejournal.com/burimyu/) ♥

Re: 63

[identity profile] fiendie.livejournal.com 2008-05-21 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Agreed. I love the crack, but there's too much of it recently... Higamyu was way over the top.

Is there any point in watching burimyus if I stopped reading Bleach about a year ago and don't really remember the plot? :o

65 OP

[identity profile] master-kogane.livejournal.com 2008-05-22 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know how she is after that scene (I really had to stop reading, which makes me angry/sad, because I totally dig the evil master thing, but it really did made me flinch), but for me, the way Martha is made superior through making Owen look like a violent sex offender (taking into account the introduction-scene before that one), definitely makes her a Sue in my book. But then again, everyone has their own definition of the Mary Sue.

Argh, sorry for rambling :)

65

[identity profile] defabricated.livejournal.com 2008-05-21 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't feel lonely. I really did adore that fic (as one of the very few Doctor/Master fics in fandom that doesn't supply a totally batshit insane Master physically/emotionally abusing and/or raping/killing the Doctor who loves it the whole time being omg guyz he ttly deserves it for blowing up Gallifrey), but I didn't think she did Torchwood justice at all. They felt pastede on yey and extraneous. It made me sad. =/

65 OP

[identity profile] master-kogane.livejournal.com 2008-05-22 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you, that was the way I felt too! I kept wondering: "Who are these characterless people?" Even Jack felt wrong to me.

So the Doctor/master bits stay good? I could only read the scene on New New New... York, and that was fantastic. But the way Owen was portrayed pressed my WTF OMG NO button too hard and I had to stop reading :/

I would have been able to handle just that OOC scene, but the one before, with Jack actually implying: "I better keep an eye on Owen, he might attack/rape/Idon'tknow Martha because she so easily dismissed him which I totally didn't acknowledge before the other wrong scene (LOL), was just too much.

18) yes yes yes yes GOD YES. It's very well acted, I'll admit. I'll even praise it's storyline, even though it's so angsty/gloomy I can't believe people stick around for every depressing episode. But Entertainment Weekly won't stop raving about it in every goddamn issue and of course everyone but me is fine with that because IT'S THE AWESOMEST SCI-FI THAT EVER SCI-FI'D ALL AGREE? YEAH! and damnit, I just want EW to realize there are other shows on the Sci-fi channel that deserves the spotlight too.

...Well, at least it's not as bad as the issues that came out around the release of the new HP book. We get it: he's a motherfucking wizard. /rant Sorry.

That's my whole point. Someone above said it had a "small fandom" Are they kidding? Maybe online (And even that I don't see as small, not that I've looked) but in real life? It's like Sex in the City for men, and like you said mags like EW treat it like the second coming. I have lived through a lot of shows, good, bad, epic, forgettable, and while not for me, I'll acknowledge it's good points. Saying it's *better* then Star trek or B5 or whatever, comes from the fact, in my opinion, that it's the latest "greatest" thing.
