Not a fic, but I wrote a choose-your-own-adventure type thing about five or six years ago so a friend of a friend could test her boyfriend's tolerance for absurdity.

I can with 99.9% certainty say that I've never done mind-altering drugs. The .1% uncertainty is because of this.

oh yes. the reaction was "plot aside, I was a fucking great writer. when did I get so lazy and shitty?"

I have gone back 20 years to the fic I wrote manually before the internet was a thing. I have apparently always had a flair for writing itself even if my plots or basic fandom ideas sometimes weren't the best.

- Horrible, horrible punctuation. I can't believe I got A's and B's in English. Then again, we weren't tested on that as much as we were vocabulary and the books we'd read.

- My OC wasn't a Mary Sue, but she didn't really fit into the canon universe.

- I could not write "edgy" characters. At all.

My dialogue was always awesome. But I had this terrible habit of accidentally switching tenses like... halfway through for some reason.

Generally I like it as fiction. I occasionally notice awkward plotting or phrasing.

Kind of makes me feel warm and happy, like I'm waving to old!me.

I read it. And I laugh my ass off at how bad it is (at least, the very early ones where I wasn't terribly self-aware. Of course, I also find some things to admire about the story, considering the age/inexperience of the author).

I tend to have mixed feelings, remembering how I felt around that time, usually some sad feelings about time passing etc, feeling a little embarrassed as well as the warm feeling of remembering how good it felt to write about the subject matter and some warm fuzzies for the characters. It's a real emotional journey from me, and I tend to avoid it, because sometimes the negatives outweigh the positives.

Oh God yes. It was a fic about a character I really liked... In a book I utterly despised. We're talking a fic which was posted 11 years ago, and I looked back through it this year expecting to have a laugh.

Point in fact: I ended up just amazed at how I could trace back some parts of my current style, even kinks and character day I usually like, to this fic. And the obsession with the character came back. So I might have polished and reposted.

Damn it I am stuck thinking about that terrible book forever.

there was a glaring medical inaccuracy in the first House fic I wrote 9 years ago and I should have given Wilson more to do but other than that I didn't think it was too bad.

So I was watching Lethal Weapon 1 and 2 tonight and the second one reminded me of something I keep forgetting, that might blow the minds of anyone who doesn't already know:

The actress who played Private Vasquez in Aliens is the same actress who played John Connors foster mother Janelle in Terminator 2, and Officer Shapiro in Lethal Weapon 2.

One of the most badass Hispanic heroines is actually a white Jewish girl in... I dunno what "face" its called when someone is darkening their skin to play a Hispanic person. Still Jenette Goldstein, hella badass, hella white. D'I blow any minds?
