132- Whoever you are, I love you.

133- I disagree completely; she hurt him. She yelled at him for doing what he had to. I can understand her being a little frustrated, but she blew it out of proportion.

140- My father died around four years ago. I know what you mean, kind of. I mean, I still cry over certain pieces of fiction, but I can't really respect someone so detached from rality that they sob for hours/days over someone who was never real and don't care about the flesh and blood people in their lives.

147- Haha, Josh or Sawyer?

168- I agree with the first line

Grunny is a mancakes

101 Wait, you can't find another nerd who likes Monty Python?

106 Yeah, that's why I liked him too. I was sad to find the comic books kind of lame compared to the movie, though (he looks like a Clark Gable ripoff in his 1963 Marvel debut).

Tony Stark is a pretty good male role-model, actually.

108 FUCK YES! Kurt Russell could still pull it off! I mean, he's the only thing I really loved about Death Proof.

115 It's okay to enjoy romance in mecha anime ONLY IF YOU ALSO ENJOY THE MECHA ELEMENTS. Otherwise GTFO out of my fandom.

128 I don't like it because there's nothing redeeming about it that makes me want to watch it, period. I don't like CLAMP's new style (I LOVED old CLAMP, CCS, Tokyo Babylon, RG Veda) and the mecha designs are crap. And as a history major, the alternate history doesn't make any sense to me. There's too many obvious holes in the plot there. It's like Sunrise has no idea what usually happens when one country conquers another.

130 STFU. "Art," my ass. You're DRESSING UP IN A COSTUME. Nobody expects you to look exactly like a cartoon character. People that starve themselves to look like a drawing are also fucking worthless.

132 I've never heard of Monster. :( And I was reading Death Note because it was a pretty good detective story, not for the "pretty".

140 I dunno -- the deaths of real people affect me differently. My grandmother, who basically raised me as a third parent, died last year. And I didn't feel anything until later, and even then it comes and goes. I didn't experience grief all at once, like I do when I shallowly cry over a fictional character (that's mostly just me reflecting on myself, not the character).

144 GOD WHY DID YOU HAVE TO REMIND ME?!!

148 Find a better Tsukushi, SERIOUSLY. I HATE Alexis Bledel with a burning passion.

164 Uhm, I'm in love with Napoleon Bonaparte (only the hot younger corporal version), does that count?

Oh please, I for one did like the mecha in Gurren Lagann but there are a lot of other mecha series where I only enjoy it for the characters.

So what if someone enjoys Gurren Lagann and does not like the mecha. Just be happy the series reaches a broader audience who can appreciate it for many different things.

Emotional elitism? Oh god, what next? Eyecolor elitism?

Perhaps it hadn't occurred to you that not everybody has the same reaction to events as yourself, and certainly people have different sets of morals and standards of behavior? That is, I myself fight with all my will to not break down into tears when notified of tramatic or tragic news. In my world, breaking down into tears is something that's not really... well, kosher, I suppose. Stoicism is a noble trait.
Meanwhile, when reading or watching the death of a fictional character, one is more likely to be alone, and thus more easily can escape the stigma of openly expressed emotions.

[identity profile] whitetux.livejournal.com 2008-06-15 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
120. yes, because they would let you join their world for 5 days happily

FUCKING PINK ELEPHANTS.

169. lol 69 I used to be one of those fans when I was younger, back when I was brainwashed by my catholic school. DD: It's not cool, it just shows how naive you are. I'm still not into yaoi/yuri, but I'm not going to get in people's faces about what pairings they like. That's just stupid. :x

N!S 1: I don't know anything about the situation, but, speaking as a Shinji myself... good luck. <3 Again, I'm only speaking for myself here, but I think your Shinji probably appreciates your trying, even if they don't realize it yet.

113. More love for the crazyface over here. (Yo, there should be like a [livejournal.com profile] crazyface_daily community or something! It's so popular!)

157. I don't know -- while they do have a certain similarity in themes, Douglas Coupland is a lot more satirical in the way he handles them. I'm not sure Shinkai could handle that. I do think they're both awesome, though.

WHAT. MY REALITY HAS BEEN SHATTERED.

[identity profile] antler-action.livejournal.com 2008-06-15 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
140. People do react differently to death. You can't measure degrees of grief by crying-- sometimes the tears only come for fictional characters because you don't feel as much as you would for someone you know.

101

[identity profile] tju-tju-tju-tju.livejournal.com 2008-06-15 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
101. Dude, Psych! :DD I'll be your friend!

Late to the party 'cause I was at a party

[identity profile] batty-gal.livejournal.com 2008-06-15 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
130 - Whatever happened to cosplaying for FUN? Fuck looking good.

132 - I'm a HUGE "Monster" fan, but the insults were unnecessary. Why someone likes something doesn't matter. That being said, I hated Death Note - so just because one likes one doesn't necessarily mean they'll like the other.

140 - Oh Brother. People grieve in different ways. I've never cried at the funeral of a loved one, but I've cried for fictional characters. Doesn't mean that I loved those real people less or the fictional characters more -- that's just how I grieve.

144 - Me too! Fucking Pink Elephants.

169 - This is the first "I lose respect for" secrets that I've agreed with!

116

[identity profile] minervafranz.livejournal.com 2008-06-15 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
WHO WOULDN'T?

[identity profile] yuumeko.livejournal.com 2008-06-15 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
128. Same, actually. Not very rational, but that's usually the case.

140

[identity profile] melime.livejournal.com 2008-06-15 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
140. I actually always do cry more over fictional dead people than real dead people... when real people die, I try to distance myself from it; I don't want to let myself think about the fact that that person is gone and I'm never gonna see them again.

With fictional characters, it's like... they're not real to begin with, so I can just let lose and cry all over the place about it. And I do.

It's probably very unhealthy but that's how I function. D:

132

[identity profile] harpseals.livejournal.com 2008-06-15 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
Augh I know right. I watched DN after getting in Monster and thought it was stupid.

[identity profile] ldkirby.livejournal.com 2008-06-15 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
114 - ...DAMMIT, NOW I'M DOING IT TOO D=

[identity profile] fantasyprone.livejournal.com 2008-06-15 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
130. Am I the only one that thinks this secret sounds like a poem? I kind of wanna roll with it and make something like that My Secret song that was posted a couple months ago...

Dear friend, you are ugly/You cannot cosplay Light or L...

160

[identity profile] comically-so.livejournal.com 2008-06-15 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
160. HAHAHAHAHAA. I'm sorry, that made me lol. But I know if something annoyed me and then it started reminding me of him, I wouldn't mind it so much anymore either.

Now I want video of Brad singing "Never Gonna Give You Up." I certainly wouldn't mind being Bradrolled...huh, that doesn't sound right.
