Mostly because Britannia just seems waaay too far gone to be 'saved' by now, and even if Suzaku becomes the Knight of One and 'gets' Japan (I forget the technical term, would be be Governor-General?), what about the rest of the countries Britannia wants to take over? Suzaku's method is far too naive, and Lelouch's method is far too 'EVERYONE MUST DIE!' I will say that I felt incredibly bad for Lelouch when all that crap with Euphie happened, and that he really had no choice.

They're both extremists, and they'll both lose in the long run if they can't find a happy medium. Sacrifices must be made, but you can't go around killing anyone and everyone.

And, even though the secret may not seem like it, I'm incredibly fond of Lelouch as well--we just don't see eye-to-eye.
