122. It's kinda sad that it makes you lonely to be the "only person" of color in fandom. Why should it matter what color you have? People are people, friends are friends, fans are fans... color shouldn't make a difference when discussing (etc.) a hobby. So does it really matter whether the rest of fandom matches your skin?

I wish people would stop thinking "black and white" and just think "people". Still, hope you find what you're looking for.

132. I want to see it, too. American Girl (along with Magic Attic Club--are they even still around?) was my childhood. Though I grew out of the books before Kit was introduced (Samantha plz). I wish I could go see it with you, because I seriously doubt I'll be able to get anyone to go with me. :(

142. I used to wish the same thing. Too bad it'll never happen... It would actually make me play a MMORPG.

145. That really sucks. I'm very lucky in that my family, and my uncle's family, are all huge geeks. Dad plays the Halo games religiously, Mom hung up an "I WANT TO BELIEVE" poster from the X-Files in the office, and my brother is just as bad as me. Last Thanksgiving we had my uncle and his family over and we all sat around the big screen TV eating pumpkin pie and cheering my uncle on as he set zombies on fire in Half-Life 2.

You could always try to get them into fandom. They already have genres of entertainment they like--just find a series that you think they might enjoy and get them to try it. My cousins weren't into anime at all until I brought a huge chunk of my manga collection for them to look through.
