Well, not that influenced. IIRC, Osamu Tezuka took a liking to the animal eyes in "Bambi", and made his characters with bigger eyes. The storytelling and image dynamics has much more in common with Kabuki, for example.

113. Well, it's your opinion and right not to like "non-Japanese" manga, but it's also your friends' to have that dream. Maybe some of your friends only draw that stuff for the popularity or for the fangirlness or whatever, but maybe some genuinely are in that style because they love it? Therefore it IS their style. (And technically, no one really has their own anime style. Very rarely. It's just the same basic formula tweaked to one's liking, usually.)

I guess I'm just worried people will automatically lump me with the part of SK fandom that slashes the characters and writes crazy NC-17 fic about the them and Feral and random furry OCs. The whole reason I've been a fan of the show for so long is to see them kick ass, not fuck! But the slash fans are such a huge force in it, that it's very easy for people to make some pretty scathing generalizations.

*sigh* I just need to grow a (metaphorical) pair. :)

I doubt it would just be a tv show or something giving them hope, sometimes just having other people in your life and something other than your problems to focus on for a short while then... it helps you pick up and go back to life.

105. Sometimes, someting so 'trivial' can be a big help. Whatever message the show is trying to convey can actually help a person like some random stranger showing a random act of kindess. I knew that drawing will be a huge part of my life when I read Paradise Kiss. In that moment, I nearly cried when I was in a middle of a beauty salon under a hair dryer. It takes that one small thing. Although I do not discount getting pro help but sometimes a small light can start a road of find yourself through shit and stuff like that.

113. Who said it can't be for pro artists? There's a difference saying to adopt your own style and quiting the manga style. I admit my own art is heavily influence by anime but I do my own spin on it. And with comic companies trying to cash in the manga craze and international manga competition, I think you're giving the style too little credit. There's no true rules in art except trying to affect someone either it's visually or mentally.

Sometimes re-imagining is alright (Batman TAS has its moments of re-imagining), but other times it's fucked up (That crap called "The Batman", for instance)
