Spoilers I think, also a little off topic

I'm halfway through the first season on Netflix, but I've seen some spoilers by accident and apparently she's a lesbian? I find that really offputting if it's true, and it made me guess that she turned out to be a more popular character than she was anticipated so they changed her story to give a woobie explanation for her clinginess to her boyfriend and hatred of other women that would make her sympathetic so her fans would be happy. Does the show actually manage to do this twist in a way that's believable?

Czeslaw Meyer from Baccano!. I felt so bad for him. He's also like hundreds of years older than me but whatever.

Sorry I can't answer, but just popping in because I was so excited at the prospect of little_details still being around, but it doesn't look like that's the case (at least, a quick glance suggests it's pretty much done). I have lots of injuries to order and other details I'd love more info for, but I wonder if there's like a reddit equivalent or something?

Crayola crayons.

I understand this. but here is my question: do you feel that way only because of The Disaster Artist? Bc I just watched the movie and that's how I feel, but is there like...MORE to support all this?

To be clear because I just re read this and realized it sounded really bad: I'm not put off by a character being a lesbian, I'm put off by this particular character being one because of my suspicions that it's fan pandering because it makes no sense so far that she has any hidden explanations for the way she is in season 1.

How much tech is TOO much tech?

I work in a chain office supply/technology shop for the time being, and for the life of my, I can't wrap my head around half the crap it sells. Especially fitbits and those Google Home things. It just seems creepy to have a computer know your every move - even while you're asleep, in the case of fitness trackers.

Someone's pedantic today. But if you must quibble, then let's say "risks" since "aesthetics" doesn't fit at all.

The idea that if the author/artist/whatever has a character do something problematic/something problematic happens, and doesn't spell it out like the audience is full of five year olds that "THIS IS A BAD THING OK!" means they completely condone the character's actions, or are completely ok with the bad thing that happened.

NO KIDS. Very sure about that.

Also I can't express my wtf enough at the fact that I've seen people talk about how "smol" a character played by an actress who is five foot six is. I'M that height. I'm taller than at least 75% of other women I meet.

Ahaha, wow, yeah, that's weird indeed. I'm that height as well and I sure as hell wouldn't call myself "smol" by any stretch. I stick out like a sore thumb in my family-I'm taller than both my mom and my sister, as well as my aunts and many of my female cousins :p.

Fanart where the skin color/body type of a character is changed. It's worst when it's a live action fandom. I saw this a bit in early Avengers fanart where Bruce Banner had skin much darker than Mark Ruffalo's.

Slash fanart where the members of the ship, regardless of their canon personalities, dress in crop tops, booty shorts, tons of ear rings, and pastel rainbow colored everything.

I don't have any kids. which is good, because I'm 30 but I'm a late bloomer in pretty much every possible way

I've never wanted any. Not because I don't like kids, they're fun and hilarious! But I also like being able to hand them back to their parents after awhile, and not having the responsibility of actually raising them. BUT, now I'm in a serious relationship (the could-last-forever type) for the first time, and super crazy in love, and this is making me think for the first time about the possibility. I definitely haven't swung around to WANTING it, but on occasion I think about it and think..mostly that it might not be as scary as I've always thought. Or that we could probably be good parents as a team.

Re: From secret #1

(Anonymous) 2018-01-28 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
I've never wanted them. I'm pretty selfish and self-absorbed and I'd resent the hell out of any child I had to devote my life around raising. And to be able to afford them... fuck, I'd have to give up basically all my own hobbies. No thanks.

I don't hate kids and I actually really enjoy babysitting.

But if I had to do it for the long haul, it'd be ugly for all involved and I wouldn't want to put a child through it (children should be with people who want them and love them, not people who'd resent them) and I wouldn't want to put myself through it either.

Ooh, yeah, this. Not every story will have a morality lesson in it, and if a villain is doing something bad...yeah...that's kind of the point. I don't get how or why some people make that assumption. Are there some writers who condone their characters' bad behavior? Yeah, probably. But many of them really don't.

I completely agree, OP. I hate this trope too.

oh man, even NOT REALLY wanting kids, if it were possible I would instantly adopt Butters from South Park. HE IS JUST SO SWEET AND HIS PARENTS ARE SO MEAN TO HIM.

Re: From secret #1

(Anonymous) 2018-01-28 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
On the contrary, I think things look great.

Seeing so many people who don't want children freely opting to not have children and not bowing to social pressures like they might have done just one or two generations ago, is a wonderful development.

No child deserves a parent who doesn't want them.

(Anonymous) 2018-01-28 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
The only time I ever even entertain the idea of wanting bio kids is when I'm feeling verklempt about my parents bloodline ending. But that's a dumb reason and I still have no desire to be pregnant and I don't even really like kids. I'm the monster who's just as likely to be annoyed by a baby's laugh as I am to be enamored by it. So don't get me started on screeching a d screaming.

Re: From secret #1

(Anonymous) 2018-01-28 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
When I was a kid I assumed I'd probably have kids someday, yeah, but that's all the more I really thought about the idea. I did love the idea of big families as a kid, not so much in a "I want to have a big family of my own" way, but in a "I want lots of siblings" way.

Now my attitude is more, "If it happens, fine, if not, that's fine, too." I know I sure as hell don't want and am not ready to have kids right now, because I'm just not financially stable enough to take care of them. But when I do get to that point, who knows?

I do think if I ever decide to have kids, though, I'd like to adopt if I could afford to do so, simply because being pregnant kinda makes me nervous. I know many women go through pregnancy just fine, but I hear stories about some of the health issues and complications some deal with and it all gives me pause as a result.

I'm sick, but I don't know if it's just a cold or a sinus infection. If it's a cold, nothing will work but waiting it out. :( if it's a sinus infection, I have easy access to antibiotics, but it will suck because over the past few years I cannot fucking take them without getting a yeast infection, immediately, like clockwork. :(

My parents had the same attitude. They've never pestered me or my sister about that stuff. Neither have any of my relatives, come to think of it. And I'm very thankful for that.

Weirdly, though, my mom's told me that some of her co-workers seem surprised when they find out she's not a grandma, and don't get why she's not getting on me or my sister (who's married) to have kids. Why they feel that's their business, I don't know, but...*Shrugs*

You basically have two choices that give you what you're looking for, and that's nerve damage or incredibly extensive scarring. Nerve damage is much easier to explain, much more likely to cause loss of sensation, and much more likely to be permanent.

Crushing or cutting would probably be best ime? Ideally you'd want him to damage the internal area of his palm/back of his hand. Something like an object driven deep into/through his hand or getting his hand smashed could break a lot of delicate little bones and ligaments and stuff, and also pretty well fuck up his nerves.

I've punched glass before and unless he starts grabbing up fistfuls of it after he probably wouldn't injure his hand that badly. Even if he does, mirrors shards might not really be sharp enough to do much more than give him some wicked cuts.

Any fire big/hot enough to deeply damage his hand (which is what you'd need for a permanent injury like what you're looking for) would pretty much ignite the rest of him I'd assume. But if you like the idea of burning you could go with acid or boiling liquid of some kind. Either could do a lot of centralized damage.

The way people on tumblr tend to talk,,,without,,,any,,, regard for how punctuation works,,, at all?

I mean, okay, my own generation basically spoke in code ("omg rotflmao lyk i no rite? Srry g2g brb!"), so I guess I can't judge them too much. But it's still weird and annoying and get off my lawn.
