HI! I didn't make it clear in my secret apparently. I'm not referring to the amount of DW secrets. TBH I couldn't care less if it turns out one day every secret is DW. I'm referring to the endless wank that the fandom is. It is totally ruining my viewing experience.

A summary that makes it clear that Here Be Dragons, without giving away the whole plot, is fine. It's not net nannying to say what it is on the tin, any more than, say, a book store is nannying customers by advertising that they sell books, and maybe that you can get thus-and-such a book 30% off or that there will be an author signing next weekend. All it ensures is that people who like books and would love to get thus-and-such book 30% off and would be thrilled to attend that author signing can do so, and someone who'd rather play video games can pass it up and head to Best Buy. And I'll put the metaphor away now before I break it.

Your secret reads pretty much like you're being a dick, but I don't have all the info. If your summaries do indicate the general sort of theme one can expect from your fic, then I tip my hat to you and bid you good day.

132 It's more about informing potential viewers of the contents than putting up a disclaimer of some sort. Some subjects don't disgust me, I'm simply not interested in them to spend hours reading. I would stop paying attention to an author or artist fairly quickly if I come across too many unpleasant surprises and question his or her intent of the possible misrepresentation. It's also a matter of courtesy and acknowledging that everyone draws the line at different places. While excessive warnings are unnecessary, letting people know that your work contains spoilers or topics that many consider controversial or inappropriate (e.g. genital mutilation in graphic detail) is a way of showing respect.

147 If you're happy with how much you value fandom, that is perfectly fine. Those people are just trying to suggest that there may be other things that are even more meaningful and endearing to you.

Not sure I agree on your point about Simon would have "burned the world" if Nia wanted- Simon was always a good person, and he never would have gone for that- but you do bring up why I feel Simon leaving at the end wasn't the healthy, grand ending that everyone seems to think it is. It was a breakdown of sorts, just like he had after Kamina died- he put so much of himself into one person that he almost couldn't move on, falling apart the first time, and the second time believing he had learned- but leaving behind all of the people he cared for and who cared for him, rather than moving on with the life he had and staying strong. I don't feel it was growing up, and I feel bad for him... I think he was almost as bad emotionally and psychologically as after Kamina's death, just ostracizing himself and deciding he had to be alone forever after that, instead of sobbing and being fully unable to cope. Not healthy, either way.

But RyoHiba, YamaGoku, BelGoku, SqualoYama, LussRyo, ReboLal, and ColoViper (oops I've outed myself) are ones I'll actually actively seek out all the time (okay, maybe YamaGoku not as much, since there's a FUCKTON of it and it gets old after a while XD), as well as certain OT3s and OT-mores. Prefering pairings or even only liking certain ones is fine, but god dammit, when you start losing respect over how people like to enjoy themselves when it comes to pairing up fictional chraracters in a fictional story, that's pretty sad. Please, please check yourself before it gets bad, because you seem otherwise cool. D:

132: Okay? Good for you then. I sort of agree (seriously, if a ten year-old can buy a Laurell K. Hamilton novel, then nothing I write can possibly be that bad), but at the same time it's a courtesy thing. While Fandom has it's own cultural standard, I tend to take an attitude that it's better to fit it in the summary. Not as a list, but as a summary. If your rape scene has so little to do with the plot that it doesn't fit in the summary, maybe it's just a tiny bit gratuitous, yes? And if your story revolves around Gohan/Goten incest but that somehow escapes the summary, maybe you need to work on that summary thing. Though I do use warnings as sort of an ad, that would make more sense if there were a standard. Sometimes I want that 'cest fic/death fic/blood-play, and others will feel the same. But the one thing I avoid like mad is a deathfic, and the last time I stumbled on that accidentally it was incredibly depressing for both the death and because I couldn't bring myself to finish a damn good story. Still, if I'd seen a big ol' deathfic warning, I never would have picked it up, and that would have been a loss of eight chapters of good reading and a brand new kink.

I guess it's just one of those ymmv things.

In addition: People, please stop making video game/movie/TV parallels. There's not any, and it kind of makes me sick to my stomach to see the myth spreading.
