Technically, yaoi is BL too. BL is an umbrella term that includes the non-smut and smut stuff and that's how it's marketed in Japan. Yaoi is usually used for doujinshi of existing series and shounen-ai is shota nowadays.

As for the stupidity thing, I think you missed the part of the movie where he gave the press conference on how he won't manufacture weapons anymore. That was like, the freaking point of his characterization. I don't know how you missed that. See it again when it comes out on DVD, I guess?

Not the OP but I liked that part and realise that it was a turning point for the character. I do feel that the second part (particularly the third act) of the movie was weaker than the first and didn't negate all of the problematic aspects and issues. I could see what they were trying to do but didn't feel that they were completely successful.

Actual, there is a good reason: So that you can have kid heroes in shows for kids. If you just focused on adults, kids probably wouldn't watch (though at least some shows have skilled adults--Avatar, Naruto, etc), and if the kids were like actual kids, they wouldn't last 5 episodes (though this is sometimes gotten around by having villains as young and unskilled as the good guys) So, you have end up with kids who are way more skilled than real kids would be. Sometimes they justify this (Aang has the Avatar thing, Naruto has the fox demon in him), but a lot of the time, we're just supposed to accept it.
