THANK YOU. WORD.

113. It's okay. More people need to fangirl Adrien. It's not like you hopped on the RPattz lovetrain or anything half as obnoxious. Have you seen Dummy, or The Pianist? They're two of my favorite movies that he's done, although very different from one another. And of course, The Darjeeling Limited is fantastic as well.

127. Ah, but he's a stupidly rich white American who goes through a life-altering experience and comes to realize how much of a careless jerk he has been his whole life, then tries to mitigate that fact. He deserves nothing, becomes aware of it, and tries to change. Also the movie was really, really cool. YMMV, obvs.

128. At the risk of sounding mean (House-style?)... LOL.

132. iawts.

147. Hate on Abrams if you must hate on someone, bb. The cast didn't write a word of it.

(Anonymous) 2008-07-30 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I have plenty of Abrams hate, don't worry.

But I fear that if the movie is awful, if it bombs, if it's terrible...that I won't be able to watch Zachary Quinto and Simon Pegg anymore because it'll just remind me of that.

I know it's pathetic, but that's why it's a secret/anon.

Why do I get this overpowering feeling that the truth is some batshit nutcase stalked someone from CLH for 2 years, and is now back to cause more drama because her life is so very sad and pathetic she has nothing else to do with herself?

Did you leave home yet hon?

115: I've been curious about that anime but I haven't looked it up yet. D:

127: I think it's the fact RDJ looks hawt and ~**smexy**~

130: I can understand that smut gets boring. I agree, I would love to read a fluffy story about two dudes just being boyfriends and their day to day life. I'd like smut as an occasional thing (unless I'm in the mood) so... yeah. I know where you're coming from, OP.

135: "MAKE U WET" is a sexy as hell song. There's no denying it.

150. Well, that took longer than I expected.

It's very good of you to defend me - I am grateful. I'd much rather have a kind or a wise word from you in my hearing, though.

Now to the point. I don't equate anonymity with bullying. Anonymity has plenty of positive uses. In fact, I posted at some length (http://kateorman.livejournal.com/873380.html) about this a couple of days ago, although that will of course have been after you submitted your secret.

Fandom doesn't just bully me. In fact, my experience of cyberbullying in fandom has been pretty minor. But fandom is full of bullying, especially indirect, passive-aggressive, girl's-toilet stuff like malicious gossip and spreading rumours. I want fans to stop accepting that and start questioning it.

(As always, assholes, log in or fuck off. I delete LJ's notifications of your comments without reading them. Nor am I going to comb though the comments here anxiously looking for your abuse. Don't waste your time.)

127: I enjoyed the movie overall but I agree with your comment about Tony Stark. There was an obvious attempt to show him changing and growing that was only partly successful, maybe because the movie was written by two sets of writers (among other things).

127. The thing about Iron Man, unlike most of the superhero movies recently, is that it doesn't have a protagonist who reforms and Learns a Lesson completely. He's still a dick, he's just...a dick in the right direction.

158: I'm not too hot on his writing (I don't think he sucks, just that he's pedestrian and mediocre), but I can't hate him either. He gave me the Doctor back, and RTD gets big respect from me for that alone.

165. But, Aang doesn't act like a normal 12 year old in other aspects. He's basically the savior of his world, and has done things that many people in the Avatar world that are way older than him haven't even dream of doing. He's so much mature in other aspects, so why would it be weird for him to be mature romantically?

101. Aw, don't say that, it might happen one day. At least you should go for as a wedding planner!

110. It's all right, sometime people who are happy single get the urge to want to be with someone.

112. Is that Yugioh?

114. One, Yoite is not a Mary Sue, there's nothing perfect about him, not even his power, and only Miharu and Yukimi actually bothered to know him beyond the "cold stone killer" facade or a weirdo that nearly everyone else think of him as. Seriously folks, stop saying every character you hate is a Mary Sue when they're not. Also without him, Miharu wouldn't known how precious connecting with another person can be. Yoite is not even my fave NabaOu character either. Sheesh.

119. ಠ_ಠ

130. I read for the plot, smut and the lulz. Seriously, I once had a list of which BL manga-ka goes in which category. I seriously in love with Tsuta Suzuki and Yugi Yamada at the moment because they don't forget how to develop character and have a good plot on top of that. And it's hard to mistake their guys as girls.

148. Yes, Monarch and Dr. Girlfriend are awesome. Shit, I need to watch it regularly again and get the DVDs....

151. lol whut? Although, depending your willingness and looks, you can prolly get laid in 5 seconds flat. Just don't expect it's an act of consummating your love like in the fics.

153. D: It was the first thing in my mind if Pluto demoted to dwarf planet/moon status meant that Sailor Pluto is no longer a Sailor Soldier. ;_; Pluto you were one of my favorite Sailors too.

154. Whut? Republicans don't have much a winner either. What will you do Obama gets elected?

166. ಠ_ಠ I think you're getting the shit end of the deal, personally.....

169. DDD:

180. God, you can't be ever more wrong, seriously...

181. I ship it in a BF 4EVER EVER!-kind of way. That segment was awesome from very angle.

Too!Big 3: I nearly cried.... out of sheer laughter. That was classic and cute.

THIS.

I don't care if you hate Yoite with a passion, just don't call him a Mary Sue because he is the farthest thing from that. And he is an important part of the plot/character development.

Not secret #1 - Jo and the Third Doctor are so underrated.

[identity profile] scootermcgaffin.livejournal.com 2008-07-30 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes! I was just about to post that myself. I love Jo so much. Until Donna came along, she was my favorite Companion.

[identity profile] levikitty.livejournal.com 2008-07-30 10:03 pm (UTC)(link)
127. Tony Stark grew up in a different world than most people when you think about it. His entire life was spent with people patting him on the head and telling him he's doing the right thing. So of course he was egotistical, selfish, and it takes a life altering experience to show him that life as he knew it and everything he had ever been taught was wrong.

180. I'm against lumping all female leads together, but I have to admit I often feel like that a lot of female leads in series were added just to be the main character's girlfriend. Like someone sat down and was like, "okay, the hero needs a girlfriend. Okay, we got one. Now let's figure out how to work her in the story."

[identity profile] lanjelin.livejournal.com 2008-07-30 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)
108: Possibly because it's not your fandoms, and real fans will react when you get things completely wrong?

130: I agree; most published BL reads like the worst kind of shoujo (or hentai, in the case of explicity, though usually sadly deviod of tentacles).

I think that's why there's so much yaoi/BL fanfic for popular series with strong character interaction; we have the plot and characters we like, the only thing missing is the romance. Because there's still not a genre where the BL just is a part of the plot.

136: They're icons. Who cares?

154: That's a bit cruel, isn't it? I mean, I'm more inclined to feel bad for the U.S. in that case. They need someone to start taking care of all the problems in their country, and from what I've heard, Barack Obama is at least a step in the right direction.

158: He's all right. He went a bit overboard with Rose, and shortchanged Donna in the end, but as you say, he brought Doctor Who back.

166: As I've said before; I never let idiots influence my enjoyment of something. I'd never give them that power.

180: You know, this sounds like a troll secret...

I used to do the same thing ALL THE TIME. I lived with my fiance for what will be a little under 5 years when I get married this September, so I figured he'd never propose. But anyways, make-believe weddings are fun!

Real-life weddings are considerably less fun. Now that I am planning my wedding, I'm starting to plan all of my characters' whirlwind elopements in exacting detail.

Uh. Sirius Black is not a great fabulous amazing person. He's an emotionally stunted bully. You aren't missing out on anything if you don't meet someone as "good" as him in real life. He's a great character and I adore him, but he's rather screwed up in many aspects and I wish more people would appreciate that.

actually, that wasn't my point.

There are a lot of similar styles on livejournal, but those icons up there, do any of those styles look the same? Sure, there are similarities, but they're all different.

But that one girl, she rips of lots of iconists wth different styles. There are other iconists like her who only rip off others, but there are also lots of iconists with great and very unique styles.

I think iconists who come up with new and unique styles should be praised, but I don't think that all iconists with generic trendy styles are bad.

It's iconists like that girl who are the problem. They're not just generic trendy iconists, they're purposefully ripping off other iconists and getting popular for it.
