129. This. How can anyone say they're useless? One of the reasons I love Phoenix Wright is how strong a cast of female characters it has - they're all varied, believable characters who don't fall into stereotypes (except perhaps - PERHAPS - Iris) and, frankly, are often the driving forces behind the plots - not in a "fridged" way, but in a "If Phoenix didn't have them basically doing all the work he would never get anything done" way.

And having just seen the comic...it's not even funny. ^^; Did the artist forget all the times Maya saved Phoenix's ass during the first three games? Including various times in court?

Inorite? There's always a girl or woman helping you out, whether you're playing as either Phoenix or Apollo. It's like you can't get through trials or investigations without a female character there to basically hold your hand through the whole thing (oh great, now I'm just reminded of that spectacularly awful NES game Mickey Mousecapade).

Of course.

The Boss was a great character because of who she was, and what she was. She was mentor and mother-figure to Jack. The Cobras considered themselves "sons of The Boss" And of course, she was Ocelot's mother. She shows her scar as proof of that. She was not ashamed to be female, and she was still a great soldier. Powerful and well-respected. She was not a 'damsel in distress', nor was she a 'Bond girl'. She was The Boss, and that's all there is to it. Her character would never have worked had she been just some man.

/sorry for making that comment an (incoherent?) essay. I just had my wisdom teeth removed, and I'm still a little loopy.

I was thinking something along the same lines. One of the things that make the Boss so special as a character -at least to me- is that badass womanly women (as opposed to young girls or "hot chicks" - not that those can't be interesting characters in their own way) aren't terribly common in popular media.
