187. What's up with the het goggles? Dexter has to be one of the most asexual characters on television. His whole relationship with Rita is a cover to keep people from thinking he's weird and getting suspicious. (Then again, I've only seen season 1, so correct me if this changes later.)

I always got the feeling that although he was emotionally unavailable, he was fairly down with the heterosexual sex - at the very least, he enjoys it when he gets it as opposed to thinking of it as a chore (though he first came off that way, he seems to enjoy it more later... I'm not sure whether to consider it inconsistent or character development).

I won't spoil, but... second season the line with Rita gets... blurred. I've never been sure how much is cover and how much was wanting the idea of a 'normal life' and how much was Rita herself... :/ But he goes through a certain amount of crap to keep her, let me say that.

fwiw, I was one who resisted not watching it because of the fans. I found my viewing of it biased against and tainted. I didn't enjoy it and wish I had better spent that time doing something I LIKED.
