133. Bandai's dubs are generally from good to excellent in quality, especially recently. Anyone who says their DVDs are overpriced is getting Bandai Entertainment confused with Bandai Visual. This is especially true now that they're trying out cheap sub-only boxset releases. And how the hell could anyone hate Bandai's special editions? They're very reasonably priced for the shitload of stuff you get with them.

I've kind of given up trying to beat sense into elitist weeaboo fans because I've realized most of them are just hating on it because it's not free or they're still living in the 90's.

Wait, did you ever read the book? You know, the one that came out a few decades before the show? Go do that. Then do historical research about the time the book was set in.
It is a historical, fictional narrative that is entirely backed up by well-researched FACTS. 1906 America was racist. White, "average" Americans didn't like immigrants and they didn't like black people. Heck, women couldn't vote nationally until 1920.
Saying that the show is racist makes my head hurt. Social commentary, etc.
read literature and understand symbolism moar.

133. SIGNED. I just don’t GET the insistence that subtitled works are better; if you’re a native speaker of English, frankly, they aren’t. So much is lost in translation in most of subtitled versions (not to mention the time it takes to read the things taking away from watching the action on the screen) kills a lot of the joy for me.
