Side note, whoever us doing it, you're awesome and under appreciated.
I desperately want to find an anime with a plus size girl as the main character. No, not one of those stories like Wallflower or Princess Jellyfish where she has to transform to be pretty
I just want a plus size anime protag.
Is that too hard? Is there any - I haven't found any

I'd settle for anime that's not a shonen battle tournament series, isn't about the romantic lives of high-school aged protagonists, and has 0 panty shots

There's an easy trick to finding what you want. It's called reading real summaries and reviews instead of rants by people who never watched anything since their high school anime club.

I'm only watching four anime series this season and literally only one of them fits into those descriptions so you're probably not looking very hard.

My two most recent anime loves fit the bill:

"Mahoutsukai no Yome" and "Lost Song".

I also love "Gegege no Kitaro", all the series, but some might find it too childish since it is aimed at kids (how to learn about Japanese folktale youkai in easily digestible form).

You might also want to try, if you don't mind going truly oldschool, "Rose of Versailles". Early in the series the characters are teenaged, and there are a few soapy moments, but by and large it's more "historical drama set in the time leading up to and the start of the French Revolution".

There is also a whole genre of farm life manga/anime. Silver Spoon is a popular and very charming example.

I don't care for Lois McMaster Bujold's heroines. They're... fine, I guess in some otherwise spiffy novels. But they are all a minor variation of super-smart, super-beautiful, and super-classy, whose only bad decision is trusting a male idiot. If they make her happy to write then I'm glad she's having fun.

It's just that she *could* be writing...

Cheerful airhead girls who are actually pretty competent and super loyal like Ivan;

Elusive, tricksy, secretly sad girls like Byerly;

Wrecked and incandescent girls like Miles.

I think there's some variation, but yeah. Ekaterin isn't quite from the same mold as Cordelia and Fawn is even more different. But clearly the author's heart is in writing male characters, and they have a rich, delightful variety her female characters lack.

You've reminded me of how amazing Bujold's male characters are. Miles is one of my favorite protagonists of all time, hands down... and Ivan is one of my favorite supporting characters. I also love his mother, though... and this is blasphemy... I think Cordelia's a little overrated. She's great in the few books she takes a larger role in but she disappears off the radar pretty quickly and only makes cameo appearances.

I hope Pillowfort and Dreamwidth become the preferred new homes of tumblrites in exile, because Instagram and Twitter are even worse for in-depth conversations than tumblr, and Discord seems kind of “secret club” clique-y.

... I sure care a lot for someone who has literally never had any kind of social media account or presence and has had the same email account since I was eleven. Is there a lifetime Anon Lurker Achievement Award?

The dumbest part of the tumblr meltdown according to the Vox article that's floating around is that one of their execs floated a plan to monetize and market Black Lives Matter.

Until Pillowfort gets off of the .io domain, it's not going to be an alternate to Tumblr just because they legally can't host porn.

But I'd really love for fandom to filter back to Dreamwidth. I miss LJ and the communities, so it'd be awesome for fandom to head back in that direction.

I love Kylux, but really only hard!Kylux. I don't quite understand soft!Kylux at all, basically because Kylo Ren and Hux hate each other and I just have trouble picturing them going apple-picking together or having underwear pillow fights or baking cookies or whatever fluffy stuff soft!Kylux gets up to.

I especially hated the flavour of soft!Kylux that was popular for a while where they gave His cotton candy pink hair and had I'm working in a milkshake bar or something similar. That was so dumb.

@OP there's a really cute webcomic (can't find the name right now but it had something with Mademoiselle and Patisserie on the title) about a plus sized lady and a patisserie where they like each other but end up spilling their spaghetti hard around each other. Really cute! If I find the title I'll post it.

i found a fairly popular twitch streamer and got to talk to him on discord for like a minute or so, he was so nice and comes across as genuinely friendly and inclusive that i immediately developed a severe crush on him. it made me realise how desperate i am for just friendly interaction in my community.
he's not even my type, definitely not conventionally attractive, but i want to get to know him so bad...

I love the world(s)building on this show. The difference between the two worlds are so complex.

But I was really disappointed that the infiltrator's big plan was a workplace shooting.

Haider is the only Shakespeare adaptation that has made me care about Hamlet.
