122, I thought the licking thing was a symptom of a badly healed Glasgow smile TBH, but I agree about the hype. I enjoyed the movie, but from the fandom reaction I was expecting something life-altering.

154, Meh, the wank seems to be on both sides to me. The number of times that I've been told the reason I don't like Maya is because she breaks up my OTP is just ridiculous.

Wank is often a two-way street, true. But in this case, there's waaaaay more of it on the Mylar side. Period. And though I would never claim that the one and only reason people hate Maya is because she gets in the way of Mylar, anyone who thinks it's not a significant factor is lying to themselves.

There may be waaaay more of it on the Mylar side if you're within the debate, but Maya fans seem to be way more wanky around the issue when it comes to people who aren't into Mylar. Yes, the Mylar crowd may have more mud on them, but both sides are covered in mud, and it's generally the Maya fans who chuck it at passersby.

(personally I don't even see how Maya interferes with the Mylar, but then my OTP weren't even onscreen together for season 2 *shrug*)

And Peter Jackson! Weta Digital dragons! The US covers do make them look pretty pulp-y, which probably doesn't help. We've got some nice black and white ones now, I guess to try and make them more popular?
I wouldn't say her fic is OOC necessarily, just very fanon characterisations. So it doesn't stand out if you're just to that kind of slash, but equally is kind of O.o if you've come straight from the show.

I actually had the chance to see C. Paolini do a reading in a local library, but my friend and I got there too late and the room was too full, so they wouldn't let us in. At the time, I was wicked disappointed, but now that I have actually read the books and not been impressed, I've pretty much gotten over it.
