Self harm? But experts have known for well over a year that masturbation is normal and healthy. I'm so confused.

I liked that movie a lot and I think it's incredibly cool that you like it for the love story, not for any BDSM aspects to it. You're absolutely right about the aspect of two damaged people revealing their true selves to each other. It's about finding the right person for you, no matter how wack you are or how wack the other person is. I wish more people could see it that way and not as LOL SOFTCORE PrOnz.

[identity profile] velvet-mace.livejournal.com 2008-09-07 05:24 am (UTC)(link)
101) THIS!

108) Let her fight her own battles from now on. She didn't stick up for you for the same reason she had you do it in the first place. So she could have the satisfaction of saying her mind without taking any of the responsibility for saying her mind. You got to take all the responsibility with none of the satisfaction. It is, in fact, a really jerky thing for her to have done.

109) You know, just saying, if you ask around, preferably under friends lock on an appropriate community, people might whisper a solution in your ear. But this REALLY isn't the way to go about getting that info.

117) And yet again I become retarded for McKay. God what an expression! Also, yes! Though I'd settle for being one of those background botanists or something. It would be beyond cool to be a part of that.

125) If there's even a possibility you guys are delusional -- it's not as canon as it gets, in fact it's not canon at all. Canon = explicitly shown/stated. If they are dating, sleeping with each other, telling each other I love you, they are canon. If they are just getting along really well, it's just subtext.

131) Once Peter Jackson has made the movie, I think those will get a lot more notice. But he's gotta get through this hobbit project first.

137) This kind of secret always makes me feel sad. *Hugs own kids*

115. Haha yeah, I thought exactly the same thing when I finished the series for the first time. Even the second time I watched it, I still didn't really care about the Neviril/Aaeru romance, whereas I loved Mamiina/Rodoreamon, Morinas/Wapourif, and Anubituf/Guragief. For some reason I only "got" it on my third time watching the series (yes, obsessive fan is obsessive). I guess I just noticed more things that I hadn't on my other watch-throughs; for example, the pairing made more sense to me when I realized that Neviril was already attracted to/falling in love with Aaeru (and feeling guilty about it) by episode 13. Simoun is definitely worth watching a second time anyway, so maybe Neviril/Aaeru will "click" more with you on the second time around?

Sorry for the rambly (and late) response. I just like seeing other people who have watched Simoun. Mamiina. ;_;

Er, and I loved Dominura/Limone too. And Onashia/Yun. Basically I just loved everyone, hahahs.

123 and 142

(Anonymous) 2008-09-07 05:43 am (UTC)(link)
OMG TWO ROBIN HOOD SECRETS ILU BOTH

123: You can love Robin and realise he's a bit of a dick at times too! I don't understand people who think one excludes the other. But hands off Lucy Griffiths, she's mine >:( Actually, almost everyone on Robin Hood is very pretty. And I love how often Joe Armstrong ends up being tied up and shirtless.

142: As per 123, you can love Guy and realise he's an absolute asshole. I can't speak for other people, of course, but for me, it's Richard Armitage's amazing acting (and hotness) that makes Guy such an appealing character. He's got layers and is an absolute asshole at the same time.

I'm not in fandom so I haven't heard of anyone blaming Marian for what he did to her but that's really fucked up. Guy is responsible for his own actions and it's no one's fault but his. (Actually it's the fault of the writers/producers and I'll never forgive them for killing her off.)

142 extra: I missed the part about fans being enablers to abusers in real life. That's a really shitty thing to say.

[identity profile] eibborn.livejournal.com 2008-09-07 05:57 am (UTC)(link)
134. In my experience, a lot of the time the people who get caught up in drama are those who are prone to it. If you're easily provoked, you've got reason to be cautious. If you're pretty cool, though, I wouldn't be too worried.

[livejournal.com profile] dramadramaduck is friendly even though it's huge, and we've got a few really obscure characters. As far as I can see, my character is played at only two places on LJ, although I haven't looked everywhere.

Finally. Thank you.

I loved the show, but not because of them. Booooring. Rodoreamon and Mamiina were way better and Paraietta beat all of them by frickin' lengths.

Aaeru. Well, we'e seen her characterisation before. But at least she was somewhat amusing. Neviril.

She just took too long. Get over yourself, lady. You might look like a goddess, but you don't need that much worship.

WHY?!

[identity profile] sakanagi.livejournal.com 2008-09-07 11:28 am (UTC)(link)
153. It's not as if you have to like her, but I'm curious: why is she ruining the manga for you? She's only one character, and the fandom as a whole doesn't pay much attention to her compared to the boys.

I started out really wanting to like Lenalee, but for a long time I couldn't - she just...didn't seem to have much personality. Once she started showing some flaws and some grit, I began to think she was great.

[identity profile] phoneix-faerie.livejournal.com 2008-09-07 11:45 am (UTC)(link)
142 - Exactly how i feel, i worry that all these people that accept it as normal will end up getting hurt.

fuck yes. Novik's series is one of the BEST i've read in AGES. YAY!
did you know peter jackson is supposed to be making the movies?
YYYYYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYY!

153, TB2

[identity profile] lanjelin.livejournal.com 2008-09-07 01:57 pm (UTC)(link)
153: The trick is to disregard the "token female character" traits she's been saddled with. She's not a bad character; it's just that even in a manga this good, certain clichés were apparently impossible to avoid. Try and focus on her relationship with her brother, and look at her as a completely non-romantic character. She's a female character with a close-range combat weapon, willing to sacrifice herself for friends and family (as opposed to romantic love, as is the case with most female characters), and is pretty alike Allen in the way she's overcome her past (trying to be happy with what she's got rather than angsting about what she's lost).

I know, the appearance, voice, and clothes are hard to overlook, and if she's paired up with Allen even I might give up. But I've still got hope!

TB2: Yeah, sorry, I'm not one to hate fictional characters, but she was a character I had a very hard time finding sympahetic in any way at all. I've run across one or two Rose-fans though, so don't give up hope.
