You're interested in MGS and Age of Sail? I thought I was the only person on the internet who liked both.

Re: 147

I am hugely, ridiculously gay for both. I thought I was the only person on the internet who liked both. :D Age of Sail is my favourite period in history, and that is weirdly difficult to explain to people.

Incidentally, this comment has just made my day. ♥

148- This secret made my day <3

108. TNG secret, hell yeah! (PIcard/Q all the way for me.)
116. Man, I love old-school platformers.
130. Hot Fuzz! <3
132. I bought a hat when I went to a conference at McGill at least partially due to Wilson...
140. Dude, I didn't know they've been friends for so long. That's adorable.
146. I wear character-inspired outfits and accessories too (see my reply to 132).
147. Oooo, I've never seen that fanart--source?
155. Me too. I just wish Zelda didn't become useless as soon as she puts on a dress (see also: Tetra).
158. Jordan love!

109. Me! Me! I used to watch it all the time when I was little. That and Hooberbloob Highway. :D I hardcore loved all those Dr. Seuss videos.

...Now I have a silly urge to make Pock fanart...

123. Sometimes things get super popular for a reason? I got into FMA because I found the first DVD in the $5 bin at the local overstock closeout store and thought it might make a good stocking stuffer for my boyfriend. I'd never heard of it at the time (no cable) and it became my favorite series because it was just damned interesting. If someone really likes something, why should it matter how many other people like it too?

119- I don't think they think he is right. Yes, they go along with it, most o fthe time, but I think they think it is wrong. And I get the impression that the audience is supposed to think he is wrong. In fact I interpret it as the evil/cowboy American doing anything because the means justified the end. And I view it as the Brits thinking the US is evil. Which sadly, our leaders in the name of the "war against terrorism" have convinced the rest of the world we are. Or I could be just overthinking things, but I don't think so.

You're the second person I've heard espouse the theory that despite his incredible charm, charisma, good looks and 51st Century Pheremones, Capt. Jack is NOT really a hero to the British audience for those exactly reasons.

I have no way of knowing if it's true or not, but if it is, it's fascinating. However I think for most of them (especially given what we know of his saviour complex and them buying into it) it's a mixture of hero worship and pheremones. (Since I assume he has shagged Susie and Owen and will shag Gwen as soon as he gets a clear shot. Tosh would shag him in a heart-beat, but has somehow been deemed not gorgeous enough.)

110: Rurouni Kenshin (manga AND anime AND the two OAVs) makes me cry like a little bitch. Every. single. time.

139: IAWTS. A lot. Pic especially relevant. Gwen is the big one that I defend to death, because I honestly do not get the hate. She's no worse than any of the other morally questionable characters in that fandom especially.

Dude, people are whining over that? :( I thought all the crazy stupid yaoi fangirls got into slash way after that game's release. It's not like it's fresh news or anything.

110. I loved that particular scene... the panelling was very effective! When I read it, I had already read spoilers of it, so nothing surprised me or shocked me, but there was still something about it that was touching.
But I never cried until volume 28. Then I did, along with Enishi~ Good times...

164. AHHH ANOTHER JON/JOHN SHIPPER! YES. They're totally my TDS OTP. And, yes, there needs to be lots more porn of them. Ditto for Brad/Colin (though Brad/Ryan is my #1 WL OTP). I also agree 100% with the Ry/Col EWWW. I don't care much for Jon/Stephen either, but it doesn't squick me like Ry/Col does.

But, yeah, sometimes I wish I went for the more obvious OTPs too, just so I'd never run out of fic to read.

Also, are you implying there is Jon/John/Stephen fic out there? Where might I find that?

I suspect you're either a sad troll, or are REALLY REALLY sheltered.

133. Kudos for talking about Maus at all. But really...? Nazi fetish? I mean, I hate to sort of prove you right for keeping this a secret--but it is literally the best piece of work about the Holocaust I've read in any genre (and I've read many, and many of them I love)...but...the cats? I mean...no. You are diminishing Spiegelman's genius and the Holocaust, all together...

163. I like how in the pregnant Bella one, Rosalie is sketchily staring from the background. Also they are all incredibly cruddy. A lot of manips are bad though.

[identity profile] vivalanaomi.livejournal.com 2008-09-14 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I try not to take anything said on FS seriously, and am usually understanding in regards to the lust Ralph Fiennes invokes in many a witness. But I agree with your response to this secret.

The Maus series was one of the most affecting works for me, as well. And in my childhood I immersed myself in material, both fictional and non-fictional, surrounding the Holocaust. One of the images that sticks with me to this day is the one of a child being bashed to death against a stone wall.

Homicidal Nazi Cats = Fetish = What and How and Why?

[identity profile] fruiterian.livejournal.com 2008-09-14 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
123 so, like, I totally don't have the time to search for/watch a lot of obscure anime. I watch what I like and what's convenient to find, and stuff that's visually flashy. My friends aren't into the kind of anime I watch anyways (if they're into anime at all), I don't get even the more popular stuff on recommendation. I read a lot more manga, that's more my scene, and I have a good chunk of obscure stuff on my hds. But I don't really advertise it and I don't really care what my friends read, it's their decision.

If it's that big of a deal to you (and you're not a troll) maybe you should chillax a bit and stop watching a shit ton of anime, because you're taking this shit way too seriously. D;

137. I don't have a hand fetish, but I'm starting to suspect that one of my characters does. Weird, eh?

142. Hugs for you. Don't worry, I'm only neutral toward her! ...uh, and my birthday is June 30. :3

106. Eh, people have food fetishes.
112. That’s awesome for you.
117. AWESOME. Also 103/117=OTP.
123. I can see why, but some of those series are popular because they’re good.
139. I agree for the most part. Guys can get off god-moding more easily than women can.
142. You have a lot of courage for your opinion.
155. ME TOO.

It's... it's hard. Being inspired by something will only get you started. I am inspired by a lot of shows, and a lot of characters. But I am still a lazy person. Inevitably I'll pick up some habit, or trait that I admire in a character and try to incorporate it into my life, and for a while things get better. But if you find yourself still stagnating in your every day life, then you're going to have to push yourself to take that first step. It's not easy, but you can do it. :( Nothing that's worthwhile is easy, and inspiration does not mean that suddenly the skies open and a holy light shines down. It means it shows you what you need to do next. The rest is up to you.
