154. I think she's a perfect example of Jolie-laide.

Are you me? I think you are. You have to be. It is the only way you could make a secret that embodies what I think of the current fandom.

[identity profile] shesarebelyell.livejournal.com 2008-09-15 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
123. I get your point, but most people who like those things don't like them because they're popular. Bleach is definitely my favorite anime right now, but I still adore Record of Lodoss War, which no one really cares about too much, or ever has really. If you eschew people in your life for liking the mainstream, than you're no better than they are. My biggest issue with the fandom of popular shows is not that the shows are themselves overated, but the more popular the fandom, the greater the chance of people Narutarding things up. And you don't really know if someone will like a more obscure anime until you specifically try to introduce it said people in your life. I watched Midori Days (pretty damn obscure) in a viewing room for awhile at a con once, and I thought it was okay, but it was pretty damn repetitive. I can understand why something like Naruto would be more popular than Midori Days, because the show has a wider range of characters that appeal to people more.

155. I wish Yaoi fangirls would just STOP. Period.

[identity profile] ginnyseta.livejournal.com 2008-09-15 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
You just TOTALLY said it. I remember when Lodoss was one of the only anime on TV, I loved that series, but you're right. It's faded into obscurity. And Midori no Hibi was shown at my Anime Club...I wasn't a huge fan either. Obscure does not mean good. Or bad. Just like popular doesn't mean good or bad!

*high five*

I like her too. I love her and Hotaru together, too.

113 - Yeah it was Suspect Zero for me.

144 - Definitely then. Not so sure about now. ^^ (P.S. Wow a lot of Python secrets today!)

153 - LMAOOOOO.

YAY!!!!!!! Another In Shadowside secret!

Echo RULES!

WHOOO MONTY PYTHON SECRETS!! <333

103 - Monty Python makes me strive to be a little different, a little bolder, a little more daring. They set higher standards for comedy. I'd give anything to be more like them.

117 - AGREED. Goddamn, I love me some Eric Idle. Actually, all of them are hot. OP6...I can kinda see it now...DAMNIT!

144 - AGREEDX2. Eric Idle is my favourite, but Michael Palin comes a very, very close second. Hottdamn.

N!S6: I love that movie, I really do.

I actually love her too. I didn't like her so much in the first arc she was in, but in the later arcs when she's matured, she's awesome. ♥

I agree, I think she's absolutely beautiful.

153. Not only THIS, but you win the pun award for living.

162. I have no idea who that even is, but 1) that picture is gorgeous and 2) you stay Stitch and I think psycho alien fuzzball, sorry.

162

(Anonymous) 2008-09-15 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
It's from a book "In Shadowside" by Elizabeth Ashe. You can buy the book on Amazon.com

Stitch is a character who is sort of put together like a Frankenstein monster. If you like Sci-Fi, this is an awesome book. Katherine Heigl is my dream pick for Stitch if the book was ever turned into a movie... so hot...

[identity profile] elfinpiper.livejournal.com 2008-09-15 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
110. Kenshin has that effect. <3

123. And if you happen to like those uber popular anime because you like them, and don’t necessarily have the time to go through tons and tons of less easily accessible anime to find the gems, you’re – what – shallow? How is not accepting that people like different things, and some of them happen to be more popular than others, not also shallow? Sure, there are tons of less well-known anime that are great and even more impressive than the popular shows. But the popular shows are often enough good too. Where people find the time to rant and rave about a billion different fandoms eludes me.

Seriously, judging people with that for criteria is pretty lame.

104) THANK YOU. ♥

110) ;_; One of the best scenes ever. I cried. ♥

142) ...I didn't realize people hated her. I guess because I haven't been in the fandom, but I'm surprised. I liked Chibi-Usa.

155) I thought it was cool too. More princess need to be kick ass secret ninja things. :(

I can actually empathize with this. Down to the letter. You should read Paulo Coehlo's The Alchemist. Helped me. Might give you some ideas.

161

[identity profile] houndartemis.livejournal.com 2008-09-15 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
Claiming that they don't respect their fans because they killed off a character is immature. All they've really done is further proven that they're not your gag-a-minute crack!show. They have intertwining storylines with actual plot and reference to previous storylines and characters who grow and change and are every bit as flawed actual people. And people die. It's amazing 21 and 24 have lasted so long in Monarch's employ as they have, and that's been pointed out in the show many times before.

[identity profile] icefalcon.livejournal.com 2008-09-15 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
123. Elitist ass. I bet you like things just because they're obscure... which is practically the same thing as liking something just because it's popular. Sure, sometimes the little obscure series are hidden gems of awesome - and sometimes they get no attention because they're shit. Same for popular series. Sometimes they're overrated - and sometimes they're popular BECAUSE THEY'RE TREMENDOUS.

134. I am bemused that people would only want to tap one out of the trilogy. XD

138. lkjasdjfl JESUS TINY

140. WHOSE LINE IS IT ANYWAY SECRET _b

163. The entire fandom is full of lol. SPARKLY LOL.

Too big #1 - Go for it. But keep the age difference in mind. It can work (my parents are eight years apart, and they just celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary), but the maturity leap you'll take between 18-21 is MASSIVE.

144

(Anonymous) 2008-09-15 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
YES!
I love all the Pythons, but Palin definitely was and still is the hottest.

123

[identity profile] biocaam.livejournal.com 2008-09-15 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
I think people are misinterpreting what the OP was trying to say...I may be misinterpreting it myself, but whatever. I think they're trying to say that people who like ONLY super popular shows are superficial, and that people who balance it out are okay.

I'm gonna cause some wank here, but if that's what the real meaning was I have to agree with them. :/ People who like popular anime exclusively are annoying, and I know that from real life experience.

Re: 123

[identity profile] childings.livejournal.com 2008-09-15 01:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree. Also I'd like to add that I don't think you can call yourself an anime fan if you don't make an effort to watch anything that's not broadcast on television. That's like calling myself a huge bookworm just because I read bestsellers I bought in the grocery store.

If Naruto or Bleach or whatever is your favorite show, that's fine. That's not what 123 was on about.

145: I masturbate to Thom singing. That probably should've been a secret. Anon is anon.
136: ...radiohead RP?

113: You feel superior for liking The Core? Wow.

123: That's funny, I don't want anything to do with elitist bores.

154: She is beautiful. People who have such a incredibly narrow definition of beauty that she is excluded from it honestly scare me.
