Re: How do your political beliefs differ from the party you most closely assiociate with?

Do you think there's another method that, adjusted or not, can provide consumer choice while also not using 1/3rd of a person's day and paying them chump change?

I could rewatch The Last Airbender all day long.

But if you said "Hey, rewatch Dead Man's Shoes", I'd tell you to go fuck yourself because I can't do that again.

It's 22:30 and I'm about to dye my hair.

I've had a very lazy weekend, reading Inuyasha fanfic despite only having read a few volumes of the manga years ago and listening to Myrath's new album. So good.

I do enjoy the forbidden aspect sometimes too, so I can understand that. I'm actually into M/F though, but A/O feels like some...hyper-stereotyped version of M/F, at least from what I've seen, which is really what I'm not into fanfics for.

The weird biology part is the other big reason why I don't read it, and that doesn't get fixed with A/A or O/O. But hey, you have sliiightly more fics than you could read before, so...nice. :p

How to make your own cleaning products. The ingredients are easy and cheap, and god will you save a lot of money over time.

IDK, but so far capitalism is the only system that lifts the largest number of people out of abject poverty and provides them with some disposable income along with a variety of products and conveniences to spend it on, so I think abolishing it is going to be a tough sell. Not that it's not a noble cause. I wish you luck with it.

Seconding water and all things water related. Food is very important, but you have a while to find or figure out food. You just have a couple days to find and figure out water.

Mega-crossover events are why I fell out of comic books. They're why I'm falling out of movies.

I lost a solid 7 hours to FFXIV. ...oops...

(Anonymous) 2019-05-05 08:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll be the first to admit I enjoy some of the sillier and less accurate versions (The White Queen miniseries was very pretty, okay!), but it's disappointing when they're going for a more serious and accurate version and they ignore some of the real intrigue and focus on the things that were likely only court gossip. We have more reliable evidence about Catherine Howard's infidelity than Anne's, for example.

I never finish most media. I just get bored. The precious few that hold my attention usually get revisited over and over and over again.

(Anonymous) 2019-05-05 08:47 pm (UTC)(link)
That would annoy me so much! Catherine Howard was 17 or perhaps even younger than that when they were married, it wasn't a love match and Henry was already older and not in great physical shape and HELLO HE'D ALREADY BEHEADED HER COUSIN. Was she a genius? No. But from the sound of it, she was starved for love and attention as a child. It was a disaster in the making.

I'm pro EU.

I honestly had no idea people did historical figure roleplaying. That's wild... and annoying.

Suikoden in general was always light years ahead of every other game with diverse body types, all ages not just teenagers, and plenty of badass females who were still female and not just a man-warrior with boob armor. I've had friends who wanted to cosplay with me get super excited because they could be one of the matronly women with interesting-looking and comfy dresses, or one of the old fat shopkeepers, or one of the plain-looking people who are still valid characters with cool outfits while not being sexy cheesecake or meaty manly.

I mean hell I plan to cosplay Skald Egan when I go gray so...

I'm pretty sure I can kill anything smaller than a deer but what I need to learn is how to field dress. It's one thing to hunt your food, it's another to get it ready to cook. I'm already planning to learn how to clean a fish but in the post-apoc landscape I don't think I can subsist on sashimi forever.

Re: Has a piece of media significantly changed your life?

I've mentioned it before, but "The Story of an Hour" was part of the process of realising that of course I'll never have a partner.

TV Dramas, never.

Comedies where I can watch a random episode? All the time.

Movies, all the time.

Video games, almost never.

Books, never.

I'd rather re-read and re-watch old favourites than sit down with something new. I'm pretty sure I've missed some amazing stuff for it.

Work ethic is important. Yes, shitty managers suck, exploitative corporations suck, but you can't not do your job and expect to keep it. You're not sticking it to the man, you're sticking it to someone who has to clean up the mess you made by half-assing or worse.

(Anonymous) 2019-05-05 09:01 pm (UTC)(link)
One might interpret from the secret that OP is attempting to avoid the power dynamics of the stock Tab-A/Slot-B ABO fic by going for A/A or O/O, in which case OP appears to essentially be after pseudo-bestiality with a side of mpreg. Which is fine, whatever gets OP going. You seem awfully defensive about demarcating the specifics of what makes ABO fic, though, so let me assure you I don't care what gets you off, either. Keep doing you. It's all good.

a little basic meteorology and astronomy will come in handy more than most people realize.

when you understand the weather, you'll know when not to camp next to your water source lest it flood in the middle of the night, when to bulk up your winter shelter against below-zero temps, and how to prevent an awful lot of problems that aren't an issue for suburban idiots inside their insulated homes but would be a fatality waiting to happen after the apocalypse, like not getting heat stroke, dehydration, hypothermia, frostbite, struck by lightning, or drowned.

astronomy for navigating, once you can't just GPS your shit anymore. that of course assumes a nomadic culture but even in our future walled citadels guarded by militia, we may need to return to astronomy for timekeeping purposes.

I understand it's not everyone's cup of tea! I thought for years it was the biology stuff I didn't like too, and really it was just the same dynamics I don't like in a lot of mainstream M/F romance. In hindsight, duh. Should have realised that sooner.

I'm enjoying my new (pretty tiny) corner of fandom!

It was nice to have a polite chat about it even if we don't share all the same interests. I was a bit hesitant to make this secret as A/B/O stuff really hits a rage button for some people. Thank you for being lovely!

Re: Do you ever revisit media more than once? Or are you a one and done kind of person?

(Anonymous) 2019-05-05 09:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I do, but it's not depending of type of media. Rather that there are some titles that interests me more than others.

Movies I rewatch are The City of Lost Children, AvP, Shawshank Redemption.

As for books, I've mostly reread White Line Fever (about Lemmy), The Relic by Preston and Child, Danse Macabre by Stephen King.
