Is he a fun character? Sure. Do some fans love him? To a point. But if he fucked off into the far North never to be seen again not a single one would've stopped watching the show.

On his best day he was never as popular as Arya, Sansa, Dani or even fucking Cersei. I fucking promise you if any of them died or left the show Game of Thrones fans would have rioted.

Tormund is a bit fucking character who only got some shine because fans of Brienne of Tarth liked that she was being appreciated for the big boss bitch she is.

Without her Tormund was a nobody.

But here's something to consider. It might require a bit of research on your part (you're lazy, so I don't expect much) but go check any GoT focused media, forum or article, before Tormund started making heart-eyes at Brienne. You'll notice he's barely mentioned, if at all, in recaps or GoT threads. Most people didn't even know his fucking name.

After his crush on Brienne was shown? Tormund's popularity exploded. He became a fan darling overnight because he stanned one of the series's biggest, most popular characters ever.

But like I said: you are lazy. I'm sure you'll find a way to stick your fingers in your ears and la-la-la like the child you are.

You can whine about how unfair it is and how hypocritical it is, but: No One Cares About Tormund's Crimes. Because he doesn't matter, understand? It's hard, I know, but think about it.

People care about the characters who matter to the over-all narrative. The characters whose very existence moves the world. That's Jon Snow. That's Sansa and Arya Stark. And that's Daenerys Targaryen, The Motherfuckin' Queen of Dragons.

And when a character burns babies to death? It kind of makes less genocidal actions not as horrific, and much easier to swallow. Simply put, it's about context, sweetie. And it's about scale.

Because his crimes affected important characters everyone cared about, and that made Ramsay relevant.

Without that he's a nobody and nobody cares what happens to him; he's just another over-the-top violent sociopath in Westeros, of which there are thousands.

Shit, people don't even care about Ramsay's other victims!

It's no coincidence no one mentions Ramsay feeding his step-mother and his newborn brother to the dogs. Or the scores of people Ramsay flayed alive. Because no one cares about those people. Even Osha's death was barely a blip in fandom. To most fans, it's all about Ramsay raping Sansa and mutilating Theon. It's all about what he's doing to torture their faves today.

But people care about Daenerys. What's done to her and what she does, matters. She lifts her eyebrow entire fucking nations fall. She that bitch, okay? And if you are a fan who's been invested in her and her journey, then her burning babies to death is going to rock your fucking world. It's going to affect your relationship to the whole series.

Tormund isn't going to bring that response. Ramsay's not going to unless it's related to main characters. Because by themselves:

They Don't Matter.

Daenerys does.

And what about Euron Greyjoy? Why wasn't he stanned for like Tormund was, then? He was funny and he didn't hurt any important characters until his fight with Jaime in the finale.
