Phone apps

What phone apps do you use the most? Any less common apps that you have found really useful or fun that you'd like to plug? Less interested in typical games, so how about apps that have been helpful for you to meet people, build skills, useful for certain situations, etc.?

My library has an app called Libby which lets me look for, borrow, and read e-books on my phone. (All for free.) I don't know if "Libby" is just a local name but other libraries may have something similar.

Mostly Tinder and Pokemon Go (lol) but I have a couple language learning apps/dictionaries.

Redfin because I like looking at fancy / silly houses even though I won't be seriously house hunting for like at least another couple of years.

Discord and Boost (it's a Reddit app) for fun, Pocket for reading / saving long reads to browse, Kindle and Play Books for reading... I think I'm pretty boring in my app use.

Besides that, I do like Bloons TD6 (a surprising amount of content), Logic Puzzles Daily and Hungry Cat Picross for small games during downtime at work.

What are the best and worst ways that media acknowledges shipping? An example is Supernatural and its treatment of fangirls. Should shows completely ignore this side of fandom? What do you think?

I don't know if this fits, but the "Now kiss!" scene with the puppet from AP Bio killed me.

The only one I can remember right now was that time in Sherlock when a bunch of people (including Anderson) are trying to figure out what happened on the rooftop at Barts and a woman proposes a theory that has Sherlock and Moriarty kissing. That whole scene was a clear reference to shippers and to fandom in general speculating on how Sherlock faked his death and it really rubbed me the wrong way. I won't say it was the only reason why I stopped watching Sherlock (there were many reasons) but it certainly contributed to it.

Best: Hannibal putting the fandom name of "Murder Husbands" in Freddie Lounds' mouth, because she WOULD totally say that. She's a (wonderfully) trashy tabloid reporter. But it was so easily done, and then the show moved on. It didn't joke, it didn't linger, and just said the thing and kept going where it was going.

It's fine as long as they don't portray fangirls as geeky or awkward or otherwie different from your normal average person. I hated SPN ep, I hated Sherlock's fan with that scarf. Like I don't mind media about fans, Dramaworld was ok, but don't make me embarassed for being a fan and don't go all - haha slash girls pervs loosers.

It's difficult and most shows don't have the skill to pull it off. It requires honestly understanding your fanbase and their reaction to your work, which is difficult especially as fandom's reaction to a work is often quite distinct from the intended reaction.

I honestly wish they just wouldn't acknowledge it because it's usually awkward as hell.

On 911 there's a decent amount of people who ship Buck and Eddie, and they had an episode where a guest character had an issue during a live stream/chat thing, and when the firefighters/EMTs showed up to help her, they were on the live stream and people in the chat were making comments like "those two are cute together" and "they'd make a great couple". I thought it was amusing and not too bad but most examples I can think of (like Supernatural years ago) are just super awkward and weird.
