134. Um yes. I dl fansubs cause I like to watch anime as it comes out in Japan. If I really like a series, I buy it when they come out with a box set 4 years later. Actually, that almost sounds alot like what people do with TV shows these days, and gesss what? Anime is TV! If there was simultaneous streaming or some such thing with subs then I think there would no longer be this problem. Japanese companies need to get their act together and start streaming with subs on their websites, grab the ad revenue, and then get the rest when US companies release the dvds dual language.

Damn. Im getting tired of whining dub fans who complain about being 'OMG so oppressed' by horrible fansub watchers. Id guess that most people DO buy, just not enough to support an industry with a flawed business model and a product they no longer see as having any intrinsic worth.

I generally try to defend The Village as sorely mishandled by studio execs, and it makes my heart sink to hear it written off with, "Blah, blah, lame twist, blah" and not much else. (Saw it in the theaters three times during a rather trying period in my life -- the last time was at a dollar theater, if it counts, I guess.) First time I liked seeing John Hurt in ages. The way some reviews villify the village elders never felt right to me -- the idea I'd felt was behind a lot of the story was trying to hammer the idea home that terrible actions aren't always made by terrible people. Parents try to do their best, and damn if there wasn't some of their own redemption in there for letting Ivy do what she had to.
