Advice

ASK IT!

How do you know if you're over someone?

(Anonymous) 2019-07-16 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
I genuinely can't tell.

I've no experience here, but I'd say if you have to ask the question you're probably not?

Darn. Thanks.

I think it'd be different for everyone, but maybe when you reach a point where you don't have to actively avoid memories/places/conversations because it no longer hurts quite so much to think/talk about them? Where you're not stalking their social media, wondering what they're doing or who they're seeing, etc.

Maybe that point where you're not really thinking much about them at all? And hopefully that comes with a happy, fulfilled life without them.

They are very permanently in my life as a close friend. Probably explains why I can't figure out if I like them or like like them. :/

Paying off student loans?

[personal profile] kaijinscendre 2019-07-16 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
Should I pay off my biggest one first? Or the one with the highest interest rate? Or the one I can pay off all at once? Or pay extra on all of them equally to finish them all off earlier?

Highest interest rate first; you're costing yourself more money the longer you pay on that one.

Here are the amounts, interest rate, monthly payments, and the Nerdwallet calculator on how much interest I will pay at the end and how many months it will be payed off.

The italicized ones are payed on one bill.

So the smallest one is also the one with highest interest but will have less interest overall.

Highest interest rate, probably. Otherwise you'd just be out more money.

The highest interest one is also the smallest one. For the rest of the life of the loan, I will pay $83 in interest as opposed to some of the other ones that are $200+. But, I would be able to pay it off much sooner with extra payments.

Re: Paying off student loans?

The highest interest one is the one that's being paid off the fastest, so the total interest is less. But if you break it out by month, versus total over repayment, you're paying the loan agency significantly more per loaned dollar every month on the high interest loan than on the other ones.

Pay off the highest interest rate one first. Then focus on the three larger loans, if you're making extra payments. The $500 one also has the lowest interest rate. It's the lowest priority one to pay off.

If there's one you can pay off all at once (I'm assuming you mean in one payment?), do that, then pay off the one with the highest interest.

Yeah, I could pay a small $500 one. If I stretch, I could pay a $1000 one.

Pay off the one with 6.55% and then put some of the monthly payment on that towards the next-highest one?

Yeah, I think that is what I will do. Thanks!

Exercise advice

What's a good basic workout routine for someone who's main concern is health. There's a million of them and I have no idea where to start.

I like these two. Also, you can choose exercises you like to make your own routine.

The vids are terrible quality but they work. :P

I like to walk and swim laps.

What aspect of health? Better stamina? Combating potential future heart disease? Strengthening weak joints? Avoiding back pain?

Mild cardio is the most basic "good health" recommendation, 20-30 minutes of biking, walking, running, or swimming. It's the overall thing, and aside from a bike you don't need equipment or a gym. That said, adding bodyweight exercises to add strength (pushups, situps/crunches, and squats at the bare minimum) balances the body a little better. You don't have to be working to lose weight or get ripped to do both strength and cardio.

I recommend Hasfit on YouTube. Guy and a girl who have workouts with and without dumbells, for strength or for cardio, ranging from 15-40 minutes.

There are a lot of very good exercise routines on this site. I clicked on a generally basic routine for you. The best part about this site, and their routines, is that they vary the workouts daily in order to fit overall health/strength, over a month or so period.

They have many different routines, all with separate difficulties and the such, so if not the one I linked, maybe another might take your fancy.

I love Bodyfit by Amy! I like her style and her workouts offer a lot if variety. She has special beginner workouts but in her regular workouts she offers options for all fitness levels as well.

Basically, you can choose whatever workout you're in the mood for.
