101) I do the same thing. I like getting reviews, but if they are all coming from people speak in l33t, I worry about the quality of my writing. Getting a good review from someone who is ridiculously easy to please is fine, but if they all are from people with really low standards... yeah, I worry it's a pity review rather than an earned one.

105) I've found myself frequently at odds with mainstream critics, especially when it comes to sci-fi. I think a lot of them just don't understand the point of genres besides "oscar bait".

110) Well... what exactly do you want out of friending? A close friendship? Or a convenient way to be updated on her fics. Obviously the first is a bit much to expect (though you never know) but the second is quite reasonable, and a way to compliment a person you really appreciate.

115) There's a lot more to fandom than meta posts (of whatever flavor). However you are right, they can feel free to scroll scroll scroll. It doesn't take a genius to figure out if someone is about to go off on a rant about racism or sexism in a show -- it's usually right out there in the title.

122) I don't get why people feel they have to choose, or that any of this is exclusive. I write I like, I read what I like -- as do my friends. And you know, sometimes it's gen, and sometimes it's a five person mixed gender dogpile. It's all good.

131: I really can't understand why people think you have to behave and think in a certain way just because you happen to fall in love with someone of the same sex.

140: The more character development a character has, the more interesting it becomes. Inner/outer conflict, epic battles, actually growing and changing... these things are still often denied female characters, and it drives me up the wall.

121. I no, rite? I've complained more than once that Sylar is (so far) a very two-dimensional character and a terrible main villain. He's... a cookie cut-out. There is nothing interesting about him. He kills people to benefit himself. The End. I'm really hoping that he either gains more depth or dies soon. Heroes could do better.

I have to say, my first reaction to your secret was instant negativity. But I read through the other comments you've posted and yes, I see your point. Reconstruction isn't all about the lulz the way BGC was. Instead of being upset about it, though, I try to look at the positive. I think the RT gang are growing as writers, taking more time to thoughtfully plan out this instead of just jumping in with jokes. They've even said in the commentaries that RvB was only supposed to be about 20 episodes or so, and they just kinda kept it running for five times that.

With BGC, they started with the jokes and then tried to shove the plot in. I mean, yeah, it was pretty much a comedy series, but towards the end of season 5 it just started to get ridiculous! And speaking as someone who watched season 5 all in one go, I had to really stop and examine all of the crazy shit that went down in the last few episodes.

Now in Reconstuction, they have this all planned out to a set number of episodes, only putting in each one what is necessary. If you want some of the older, BGC related lulz, watch the Sponsor Extended Cuts. Burnie said in the director's commentary on Chapter 3 that's what they're for.

In short: no, it's not the same series. It's a sequel where they're trying not to throw in too many references to the hundred episodes previous, so that someone joining up for the first time doesn't feel overwhelmed. And now we just have to wait for the next episode and see if they can clear up this big-ass cliffhanger they've left us with for 2 weeks.

Donna is lightyears ahead of a lot of other female character in sci-fi insofar as she's imperfect and human while being the hero. That's really rare. If your crush likes her, then it means that he has both feet on the ground - taste in women wise. Congratulations. You probably have a chance with and he probably won't turn out to be an asshole.
