I hate her because she preaches abstinence-only education, and wants to make it illegal even for a 14-year-old girl who was raped by her father to get an abortion. And then turns around and tells the American public that her unwed teenage daughter's pregnancy is a private, family matter and they should just STFU about it. SRY2SAY, either everyone's pregnancy is private or no one's is, and if it's private, the government sure as fuck has no say in it.

163. Starving yourself does not help you lose weight. Your body will actually try to hold onto whatever fat it has in order to keep you from starving. Just cut down on calories and soda and whatnot and you should find yourself losing weight. A lot of weight is actually water and eating fiber and raw fruits and vegtables will help your body absorb it.

And there's always the option of actually doing something physical ... of course, I just grab the water pills a week before a con and hope to god I don't kill myself. Not a good example.

Cutting out high-calorie food isn't actually going to cause her to lose much in the long run. Our bodies all have set weight points that no amount of dieting will change other than to fuck them up so much that they get set higher (i.e. "fatter"). The "doctor-approved" method of "eating well" and exercising is no more likely to make you lose weight than a crash diet. Multiple studies support this (both old and new, but newer studies have come out supporting this even more strongly) - the effects of ANY kind of dieting ultimately range from "nothing" to "makes you gain weight" in the long term.

At present time, we have NO way to permanently lose weight, and anyone who tells you differently is either lying (the weight loss industry, which zealously protects its own interests by cherry-picking study data to supply the public with) or misinformed (everyone else).


Which is not to say I support of her current actions, either. Me, I support everyone accepting whatever weight they naturally are when they take care of their bodies. Regardless of whether or not that weight is societally considered, "fat."
