120. I don't know the series, but I believe that there is nothing wrong with reading books meant for children or young adults. It depends on what type of people you have as friends, but I would think that people in college are mature enough to appreciate reading in general. Have you searched for online communities or forums for the series? You might find someone to chat with there, even though many of them might be kids.

121. Are they from the POV of the original character? Is the character otherwise in a big role in the story? If they are just the instigator, but don't steal lots of screen time from the canon characters and the story is not from their point of view, I don't think that you have anything to worry about.

OCs in stories are actually not at all a bad thing, especially stories that really need plot and often have random extras coming in and out of interaction with the main cast in canon. A long plotty Phoenix Wright story with no OCs at all, for instance, would be really, really hard to pull off and probably just be awkward.

Vampires aren't real. Not to defend twilight, because it's gayer than man on man buttsex, but when you are MAKING UP SHIT you can pretty much make up whatever you want.

First off, wow, way to use "gay" as a derogatory slur.

Second, yes vampires are mythological, but there's something to be said for sticking with the general archetype. I mean, if you wrote a story where you say the main character is a Kryptonian, but kryptonite has no effect on them and they get their energy from water-- well, you wrote some kind of super-powered alien, but you didn't write a Kryptonian.
