113:One of my friends and her mom loves this series. I talked to her on the phone earlier this evening, and we started talking about Twilight, and how she thinks it's the best book series she's ever read. And no, she doesn't read it as a guilty pleasure. She genuinely likes them.
I love her and her mom very much, and she's one of the best friends I've ever met, but, it's just that... Twilight. Best book series she's ever read. She even said that Stephanie Meyer wrapped up the story nice. Just...No. >x< At least she thinks the movie looks bad. That's always something, I guess...

101. I feel the same way-- I know some geeks at my school, but they tend to be mostly RPers. Meanwhile, I'll wear some kind of superhero shirt every other day and carry stacks of comics with me everywhere, hoping someone will stop me and be all "hey cool, someone else!"

I find that sticking with scans_daily, Gail Simone's message board (http://forums.comicbookresources.com/forumdisplay.php?f=34), and whatever specific books' LJ comms gives me plenty of fandom interaction without too much fail. Also, have you seen When Fangirls Attack (http://womenincomics.blogspot.com/)? They update kind of irregularly, but it's all about women's issues in comics.

121. In my fandom experience there are plenty of males who don't care about the fact women are in the fandom and they won't even resort to sexist cliches like asking you to post boobs.

However, it depends on the fandom and I've struggled with issues like yours. There's a messageboard I use where I particularly hate talking about the bands I like with men most of the time because, being female, they automatically assume I only care because I think one of the guys in the band is hot...yet they're posting pictures of girls in bands they want to fuck and that's perfectly acceptable for some reason!

Anyway, I think it's a shame you feel like you can't discuss things you love and I hope one day you'll find a forum where you feel comfortable. After many years I've learned to handle it so you can too!
