I have a ton of E7 drabbles for my drabbles100 challenge (general series). A lot do focus on Eureka/Renton because good lord, they're my OTP. But I even have a Hilda/Matthieu; I try to keep some variety. I do have a Gidget/Moondoggie one. Just stating that the twilight fans among my friends - the ones who seriously think the books are the Most. Romantic. Amazing. Thing. EVER! are also the ones with the most fucked up love lives.

In my personal experience, there is a correlation between this mindset and the FUBARity of their love lives.

I see adoration of Twilight as a symptom of their greater problems, not the cause.

I still do not believe this show will ever get to the point where we see Arthur as the ruling king of Camelot et all anyway. This is YOUNG!CAMELOT we are talking about here and the minute that Uther dies, I will die inside even if this has to happen because Uther is King DILF and I love him, then YOUNG!CAMELOT is dead too. But that's just my ~*opinion*~

First off, I would like to make it clear that I don't care if someone likes the book better than the musical. That's a perfectly valid opinion. I am addressing the people who feel that preferring the book makes them somehow superior to those who prefer the musical, and/or those who look down on people writing musical-based or mixed-canon fic.

As for why? Wicked is, at its core, AU fanfiction. It is based on another canon. As a matter of fact, it is based on MIXED canon. The Witch of the West being green, ruby slippers, Glinda being from the North, only having three witches instead of four? All movie canon. And the green thing is pretty integral to the plot. The existence of Quadlings, a munchkin named Boq, and most of the map filling-in? Book canon. It just seems hypocritical to me to think that the book is superior because it came first, when Wicked itself is heavily influenced an adaptation of the source material.

For the record, while I mildly enjoyed both, I'm not a big fan of either form of Wicked. But as someone who grew up with Baum's book, I will say that the musical struck a lot closer to the Oz I knew than the book did. But that's just me.

Seriously, I remember learning about them and thinking that their friendship sounded like the best thing in the world. I like the idea of having that kind of closeness with my best friend even in our later years. I couldn't even be properly sad when Ollie died, because it felt too sad that he'd had to be without Frank for four years.
