122. I had the exact same thought when I saw the first advertisements for Heroes! I haven't seen Heroes at all (and from what I've been hearing lately, it's gone down the drain anyway so I don't think I want to), but it reminded me of The 4400. And yes, The 4400 was a really good show. Then it got caught up in its promicin/Jordan-as-savior bullshit, and it jumped the shark. :/

I loved 'The 4400' and I think 'Heroes' is okay, but they both ripped off 'Rising Stars' (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rising_Stars) wholesale. 'Heroes' was especially bad about this. Their first season was basically 'Rising Stars' with the ending switched out for the ending of 'Watchmen' (only they didn't have the balls to actually go through with it).

Tim Kring (the dude in charge of 'Heroes') should be especially ashamed of himself. He advertises this show as a take off on the comic book genre that does something no comic books have done before and blah blah blah blah. And it's complete bullshit. It's all been done before, and been done better. And not in obscure little comics, either. Stuff like 'Watchmen' and 'Rising Stars' are a big deal. He really should know better.

Well... sometimes there's stuff other than S/S. Unfortunately (?), it's always F/K.

Some people write/wrote other things, but frankly, people who write Xfic lately are few and far between, especially if you're looking for quality... and then people like me, who don't write S/S, get stuck on another pairing instead (So/A), and, yeah. Basically, I totally know what you're talking about, and agree it's annoying, but... unless you want to start writing your own and spark a movement worked for subaru/arashi for about three seconds, you're kinda stuck with what there is.

For a long time the fandom used to be pretty elitist about their "right" pairings, but now I think it's too dead to be elitist. I personally love weird/unusual pairings, and X is totally a great fandom for it... there's just not enough people writing fanfic anymore. Those that are... either they're pretty bad, or they also ascribe to the "Subaru is the real hero of X" theory.

I have nothing against S/S (and have found some really amazing stuff for them, but for god's sake it's like nothing out there aside from "Sakura and Snow" gets both the Seishirou-Subaru and the Subaru-Kamui dynamics right), but F/K? I have yet to find anything for that pairing that really does them justice, and the het is so ridiculously rare there might as well not be any (though omg I love it; Sorashi and Aoki/Karen are just so ADORABLE, even if shipping the latter makes me feel like a bit of a heel because of Aoki's family and all).

I mean, yeah, I like the canon pairings (which is weird enough, for me), but... I want, say, Kakyou/Hinoto too, dammit. I want Seishirou/Kamui (and Subaru is more than welcome to come along, believe me), and Fuuma/Seishirou, and and and HOKUTO/KOTORI ROMANCE IN THE AFTERLIFE, COME ON, IT'D BE AWESOME AND YOU ALL KNOW IT. The fandom needs moar yuri than poor omg-their-love-is-so-dead Saya/Tohru. *grumble*

I don't know, but personally I find it weirdly easy to pair them together. Something about that ship feels really comfortable to me, so even if it's not my favorite, I always go back to it.
