118. That's pretty awful of you.

171. Sure, blame the VA for the company putting a potential spoiler in the game manual. Idiot.

175. I don't lose respect for people if they won't watch any dubs. I just think they're missing out on some superior voice casts (because there ARE dubs out there better than the originals). But hey, whatever floats their boats. But yeah, you just listed a whole lotta VA's that I love to bits. ILU, OP.

OP 175

(Anonymous) 2008-12-19 05:16 am (UTC)(link)
people are snobby when it comes to the sub/dub wars...i don't respect anyone who won't bother to open their mind and even TRY a dub or two. and sadly, i know a LOT of those people.

and ilu too <3 :)

163. The more and more I hear about Moon Guard, the more I remain content to stick to the other quieter RP servers I play on.

175. WORD. Dubs these days are a lot better than they used to be, and there are a lot of very talented VAs out there. Voice acting is a very difficult job regardless of the language it's done in (not to mention that English-dub VAs get paid peanuts for what they do), and they deserve just as much respect as the Japanese seiyuu.

OP 175

(Anonymous) 2008-12-19 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
Agreed. And these guys are so nice. Go to an anime convention, chill out with them, and you'll see. i mean, i got a hug each from Chris Patton AND Vic Mignogna, and they were so happy to be with their fans.

if you flat refuse to watch dubs because "oh, it's not the original", then i can't respect you, because these guys deserve as much respect and love as the seiyuu. and sometimes, they're better. (JYB as Vash yesplz)

111. Well, to be fair I don't think he's good-looking at all in that picture, but IMO he's still attractive as Wilson.

139. IAWTS. People need to stop thinking that bisexuality means "equally attracted to both genders". If you're mostly attracted to one sex, but you have an occasional attraction to the other sex? You're still bisexual.

If you identify as straight or gay and are only attracted to members of the other sex that you will never actually have to do anything about it with, because they're 100% unattainable? I do not think you're bi. It's a fantasy only at that point.

Sure you don't have to be a Kinsey 3 maintaining concurrent poly relationships with members of both sexes, but your Kinsey 0-1 and 5-6 people have the right to consider themselves straight or gay.

Besides too many people want to be bi because they think it's cooler.

Bisexuality is real, but...I think if you only are interested in people of the same sex that you know you are never going to meet, that don't exist, &c, IT DOESN'T COUNT.

If you're only wanting to do the opposite sex and some celebrity you'll never meet, imnsho you're straight until proven otherwise...by having an actual sexual attraction to a person of the same sex you actually know.

Remember kids, according to the OP, if you believe in religion, you aren't thinking enough.

I'm hoping what the OP actually meant was that they thought about the possibility of there being no God so much that, after a while, they realized that they actually believed that it was more than a possibility; it was a fact. Not that the OP believes that religious people don't think much.

Or maybe I'm giving the OP too much credit. But I'd rather not consider someone to be so blatantly rude.

101. Oh man, I know how you feel. Princess Tutu is my current main fandom, and it seems like most people in it only ship one or two of the canon pairings and nothing else. And it's so shippable!! And I love, like, almost all of the possible ships and even a few impossible ones!

125. Good for you! I hope you'll be able to listen to the band someday, too.

134. That's AWESOME!! I'd want to get you as my server someday.

135. That's very sweet/cute.

147. I think that it could be a really interesting ship. (Particularly since it was recently revealed that he was in love with her mother...) I don't really ship anything in that comic yet, but I could totally see shipping that. I'd read fic of it.

162. Same here.

171. Awwww, I like Cam Clarke's cheesy British accent! Although it's mostly sentimental, I'll admit...

175. Those are some amazing VAs you have on that list! \o/ (Chris Patton is one of my favorites!) I agree that people should at least give them a chance. Although I totally understand having different preferences and all, and there's some amazing voice actors in Japan, as well. I just think that acting talent crosses national boundries.
I have to ask, though...where are the female actresses? No Carrie Savage, Luci Christian, Monica Rial? Not even Wendee Lee? The gals need love, too.

134 - :D Nice!

153 - I'm the exact opposite. I haven't seen much of this show and what I did saw was with the previous guy (the one with the big ears), but the more I see of this guy the less I want to watch the show. His expression annoys me to no end.

161 - I say don't make it such a big issue. Finding fictional Nazis interesting has no real life consequences. The problem would be if you suddenly found real Nazis and their ideology intriguing and attractive.

THIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIS. ♥

Seriously, Yuri Lowenthal? Crispin Motherfucking Freeman? Jeff Nimoy? Speaking of which, you missed THE ENTIRE CAST OF DIGIMON 1 THROUGH 3. Seriously, content alterations aside, that cast was fucking amazing.

It seriously pisses me off when people don't even bother to listen to a dub and look it objectively before they pass judgement on it. It doesn't even matter if the acting itself is good and still suits the character, if it doesn't sound like the original, people deem it bad. I've seen people say that a show being dubbed is grounding to hate the show itself and shit like that. And half the time the people saying stuff like that still have their heads back in the days of Sailor Moon or are stuck on Naruto's "BELIEVE IT!" There are plenty of dubs out there that are just as amazing, and a handful of them that are downright better than the original.

Re: 175

[identity profile] tenmorehours.livejournal.com 2008-12-18 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)

IAWTSSM. Bisexuality has a lot of different levels to it. If you label yourself as gay or straight, you're saying by definition of those words, "I'm strictly attracted to the opposite OR same sex. There's no room for funny business outside of that." And then to say "But I'd do him or her," you're admitting to liking something outside of that norm you've ascribed yourself to.

Welcome to bisexuality.

If you flexible or fluid, you're bisexual or bi-curious. Bisexual people can lean mostly towards one side and only find a handful of the other side (or even just one) attractive, and you still can't logically claim you're 100% straight or 100% gay.

I always thought most people were bisexual, anyway. Calling yourself straight or gay is just so . . . well, "Heil!" Most people don't fit that strict definition of gay or straight.

Re: 139

[identity profile] lifeofgatsby.livejournal.com 2008-12-18 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Liking one person of that gender doesn't mean they'd be attracted to others.

Sexuality isn't logical or an either/or basis, it's more complex than that. Only the individual can be sure if his/her own sexuality, and wouldn't consider him/herself bisexual or anything else.

115 161

115 (and you too 151 and 156), I'd like to introduce you to the other eight Doctors. They exist. (And Ten is arguably the biggest departure personality-wise from the other Doctors.)

161, Yana. I feel so guilty about it, and it doesn't help that Klink (and Schultz) is adorable. =/

I don't count Schultz, because a) he doesn't really care about the war or Nazi ideology and b) he ran a toy factory and is generally a large teddy bear. Disliking him is like disliking a friendly but stupid dog.

That is pretty much my favourite book of all time.

Just because someone has muscles doesn't mean they take steroids! UGH.

I agree... physically he doesn't exhibit even the most common traits of steroid use....

ONE TWELVE

[identity profile] sparklemagpie.livejournal.com 2008-12-18 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
112) I'm an Amanda. I was born in 1985, a year that 'Amanda' was the second most popular baby name for girls in the country. All my life I have had another Amanda in my class, another Amanda at my job, another Amanda in my swimming lessons/drivers ed/group of friends/whatever.

I got the nickname 'Lady Zip' while writing a story with my friends at the age of 11. I not only now mentally think of myself as 'Zippy', but I answer to my screen name in public and have IRL friends who have been introduced to me as 'Zippy' and do not KNOW my given name.

So don't fret, you're not alone. <3

It's so comforting to hear I'm not alone here. I once had someone introduce me to someone new as "Lucy", then later tell me that they'd forgotten my given name.

I am not alooooone~! ♥
