147. Just don't post it on the forum. The prevailing opinion around there seems to be that shipping underage characters is disgusting and wrong and makes you a sick, evil person. Or maybe that's just schoolgirl/schoolgirl femslash. I guess for all I know, schoolgirl/animal demon is perfectly okay. [/KA and ZG bitterness]

Seriously, though, after having dabbled in ATLA fandom with all of its underage shippiness and in GS fandom with its big wonderful kink meme, I find the whole thing hilarious and kind of mystifying.

TooBig!4: Do it! People will go on writing Josh/Neku no matter what you do. Your fic can only help for variety. Not that I have anything against Josh/Neku; I just hate to see a fandom with so much potential for multi-shipping so overwhelmingly dominated by one pairing.

And if you're really that hung-up about it being seen as left-over shipping, you can always write in an aside about Neku liking a girl (Eri? Rhyme? An OFC?), or Josh and Mr. H being an item, or whatever.

But I'm glad that the people who have commented so far seem supportive, or at least not hateful. It's not like I'd write smut. Just fluff/angst/gen-fic. And maybe some smut.

You really missed the shipping wars... the fandom is so old that only the "canon" couples really hung on. Used to be a lot of Subaru/Kamui, Fuuma/Seishirou, etc... but most of those fic sites have died through net attrition.

And a lot of people got into X through Tokyo Babylon (sales spiked after Seishirou made his debut, if I recall correctly...)

I have a sort of fluctuating opinion on that. I've only really liked one woman but I've been in a monogomous relationship with her for almost 10 years, so I'd pretty much have to throw a gigantic fit if anyone challenged me abuot not being a "real" bisexual. On the other hand, having a crush on a fictional character or a celebrity, or anyone that you're not going to get to act on the crush regarding, seems more like a mental exercise, maybe testing the limits of your sexuality, without consequences.

To be honest, it actually annoys me more when people who are living a straight lifestyle identify themselves on the interwebs as being bisexual, especially if it's due to being attracted to a celebrity or fictional character. I'm bisexual, and I'm out in the world, trying to decide on a daily basis who to be out to, who I should not be out to, how to get health care coverage for my partner, the best way to do our taxes considering we can't file jointly, ETC, really living the life, the good and the bad, the mundane and the sexytimes, and for someone who has a crush on a pretty female celeb to say "ME TOO, I'M ALSO BI" kind of cheapens my experience. IMHO.

101 - Let me tell you. I don't like Subaru. This puts me in the vast, vast minority in CLAMP fandom. I find his relationship with Seishirou interesting, but only on Seishirou's side, because I honestly feel I could fill Subaru's spot with a kicked bunny rabbit and everything could be just as good (and even more cracked out). Ship wars X fandom. I have a friend who wrote alternate pairings (Fuuma/Kakyo and Keichi/Kamui) without even touching the S/S OTP, and she still got wanked to hell. It was just a wanky fandom, and I'm kind of glad it's pretty much dead (until CLAMP finishes the series, at least).

That said-- there WAS a (good? memory fails me) Seishirou/Kamui fic out there at some point. I believe it might have been AU. And also Kamui had wings tattooed on his back. It was on one of the old CLAMP fiction forums, and I can't find it anymore, but it was there!

I think I read it here (http://www.katana-space.net/Forum/Clampesque/) which has remained my best source of CLAMP material over the years (Other than Tsubasa, which is healthily thriving on LJ.) I've still got a soft spot for their (http://www.fatalistic.net/knkfics/) fics, though they do tend to focus on S/S. And then have some Subaru/Kamui (http://community.livejournal.com/onion_girls/tag/x/1999).

TL;DR: X fandom is mostly made up by crazed shipper fans, most of whom will defend the OTP that is S/S until their dying day, but the lack of respect on all sides of the shipping fences in X pretty much makes that okay.
