101. The thing about the shipping dynamics in X is a thing that holds true through a lot of CLAMP works--there is A Special Person for whom a given character does not need to answer in terms of his or her love. So shipping and slashing in CLAMP generally requires a little more legwork for the pairings that aren't presented by the creators with intention and attention. (If you want Poly, though, try Magic Knight Rayearth. It's canon there.) But because CLAMP actually has "pairings that are canon or might as well be", fic tends to center on that.

That said, what fandom are you coming from, going to X? It's kinda Schroedinger's Fandom, so...

Final Fantasy VII, of all things. A friend of mine recently got the X anime for cheap, so we watched it together and I got totally hooked. Tracked down the manga to get my fix (only read it about seven or eight times, and Tokyo Babylon two or three, too, and picked up Clamp School Detectives for that backstory), flipped out at where they left off, had, um, the unique experience that is the movie... Cardcaptor Sakura may have been my first CLAMP fandom, but it's X that's gotten me hook, line, and sinker.

I'd really love to see more of the Seishirou-Subaru and Subaru-Kamui dynamics explored, but (and maybe it's because I'm picky or because there's bad feelings between the shippers of each) I really haven't found much out there that treats both relationships with the same... respect (I guess that's the best word for it?) that the canon does. The closest I've found is Sakura and Snow.

I ship both and I feel like a freak in the fandom for it. >.>

175 - I'm not inherently anti-dubs anymore (I grew out of most of my elitism), but I still hate all but about two of those VAs... I wonder if I should post a secret about my lack of respect for people with no taste. xD

122. i get so sick of people saying that. omg they ripped off 4400. omg they ripped off xmen. omg they ripped off watchmen. omg they ripped off wildcards. the fact that so many names get called off when talking about this show, just says to me that the subject has been tapped so many times by everyone. i don't think that show is any worse than any other genre. like, say, vampires or aliens/space travel/general sci fi. few things are truly 100% original anymore, get over it.

I like dubs--if they're done well. I do prefer subtitles, though. The only actor that truly gets on my nerves is JYB, but mostly because HE'S IN EVERY DAMN THING I PLAY/WATCH. I wish Crispin Freeman was in more stuff...his voice is so damn sexy. Also, major love to Yuri Lowenthal and Quinton Flynn. :)

You know, there are dub VAs who have been in more than what Johnny has been in...Steven Blum, Wendee Lee, etc., not to mention have been in the business far longer, but no one ever gets on their case for it. Just sayin'.

Oh yes...and the reason he's "in everything" is because he's good at what he does. I'm pretty sure he wouldn't keep getting work if producers thought he sucked. That and the VA talent pool overall is pretty small.

In all seriousness, tho. I...can't speak for every X fan, but I know that the only reason I read X was because I wanted to know how the relationship from Tokyo Babylon ended. I ended up caring about some of the other characters some, but I mainly just was in it for the TB connections. You know. Subaru, Seishirou, Kakyou.

As for why I care more about S/S than other pairings? There's so much more canon for it. There's TB and CLAMP puts TONS of scenes between/about them in there. (Plus I just love Subaru.) To me, most of the other popular pairings either don't make sense to me (lol F/K) or I think they're kinda cute but not hugely amazing (Yuzu/Kusanagi, Sorata/Arashi, etc).

PLUS. Yeah. That masochism thing. Hm.

173. I've never seen/read Video Girl Ai, but I totally feel you on anime fandom. One of the reasons I don't bother much with anime fandom anymore is that people have such short attention spans and are in the "gotta catch 'em all" mind-set rather than actually sticking with what's good.
