129. That’s kind of stupid.
The secret, I mean. I would rather appreciate something in its original language than listen to some shitty translation (for the most part, I mean). This goes ESPECIALLY for opera.

136. Well, it goes both ways. We could use that energy to promote something else, too, and we actually have been directing our energy towards worthy causes. ‘Teaching’ feminism more often than not backfires—a woman must feel feminine pride, as it can’t be taught. The more it’s forced on girls, the less it works. However, I agree that we can start to deter certain fangirls from their ‘all women automatically suck and all men are automatically awesome’ attitudes. (tl;dr)

142. Fubar? Lolwut?

146. I simply don’t understand why people can’t make their secrets more readable. If they aren’t blind, can’t they see how brain-hurting it is?

149. I can see why people hate Haruhi—manipulator and such—but setting aside her manipulative tendencies, I think she’s a great role model. Be your own person, don’t necessarily conform, etc.

151. May I ask why?

153. It’s important to find a balance, bb. But you do realize that ED usually pokes fun at themselves, too. They’re in it for the lulz; nothing is safe from their clutches.

154. Meet 149. I agree with this secret, too.

159. Eh, I have mixed feelings about A/Ns. I leave them if I want to clarify something or just let readers know that I am an actual human being. I dunno…author notes kind of help me connect with the author better. Yeah idek.

162. Have they done that in any show thus far? Because that is really, REALLY awesome.

163. I DON’T REMEMBER SEEING THAT PANEL, WUT. And it doesn’t make you a bad feminist, don’t worry—I’m all for the feminist movement and such, but guys like him—as repulsive as they are in real life—kind of do the same for me.

164. In b4 hetalia comparison

165. No. It was a bad book.

I like both shows, but I wouldn't say either is all that thought provoking, lol. They're campy sci fi shows :)

As far as the acting, David Hewlett is without question more talented than anyone on Torchwood! And I love Barrowman, but, man, he's a ham :)

So is Hewlett. A veritable feast of ham.

129. Really? Wow. You're a douche. How dare anyone want to actually understand the words being said while they're watching an opera! It couldn't possibly enhance the experience to be able to understand both the words and the acting! /sarcasm Also, weeaboo is the dumbest goddamn word ever, and I seriously wish people would stop using it.

135. That's a good point. SGA was just, you know, loads of fun. I never understood the people who could think it was like, award winning writing or anything like that. I never got into Torchwood, but I understand your point.

142. Kudos to you for using the word FUBAR in, you know, anything.

156. I still love that movie. Guilty pleasure. Also, you cannot tell me you named the tornadoes and then not tell me what the names are! Seriously, inquiring minds want to know!

NotSecret!1. I'm lol'ing, and I have no idea why. wat.

Plea For Help, just stay away. Trust me when I say it is not worth your time.

[identity profile] top-hatted-girl.livejournal.com 2009-01-20 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)
So long as they're learning the language, what's the big fucking deal? Because they respect a culture as a result of listening to opera and would like to immerse themselves in it further, they're automatically Euro-weeaboos? Grow some brains.

129, 136, 151

[identity profile] jenifermichelle.livejournal.com 2009-01-20 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)
129 - Wow, I never thought of it that way, but you're right, they are Euro-weeaboos, XD. However, I still have respect for them, that's way beyond the level of fandom I could ever have.

136 - Not agreed that it has to be feminism, but the concept still applies. We pour so much energy towards shipping-it-like-burning, we could ship-IRL-causes-like-burning too.

151 - He is a pretentious prick. I like his music most of the time, but otherwise yes, he as an individual is an asshole.

My boyfriend is pretty much in the same situation:\ It sucks because sometimes I don't know what to say when he talks about it and I feel helpless because I can't do anything for him.

[identity profile] matitablu.livejournal.com 2009-01-20 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
129. Lol, as someone posted above, I hope this is ironic re: anti weeabooism. If you're serious... I'm Italian and I don't feel offended by people wanting to understand opera, of all things. WTF with the butthurt, OP?!? I mean, what reasons does one have to have to learn a foreign language? We all start from something specific and then, hopefully, get to know the whole culture.

151. Well, I think his music is okay, but I don't get the idolization (sp?) either.

163. Hm, that's quite hot if you ask me (I don't know the context though).

"Computer? Computer?"

112. Aw, I love Canada. I want to give the whole country a hug. Especially for giving us The Kids in the Hall. Thanks, guys!

119. Is anyone else weirded out by that photo? Their bodies are completely hairless below the neck. Utterly hairless. Like dolphin skin. I wonder if their bodies squeak during sex.

Odd.

124. What show is that scene from? Can someone tell me, please?

I haven't seen the movie yet, but I was planning on checking it out (I dig WWII flicks, even if they aren't 100% accurate all the time). What's so bad about it? To my understanding, it's a dramatization of the experiences of a group of Jewish/Russian partisans

I plan on seeing it, too. And, yup, that's what it's about, The Bielski Brothers. There's actually a book about them that I also plan on reading at some point...

I used to be one of those people who left disgustingly long and pointless A/N. I stopped writing for a while, then I went back to see what my old fics were like and I realized how incredibly stupid and self-absorbed it looks. Now when I write fics, I don't leave notes. I let my stories speak for themselves, and if someone really wants to know what I ate for breakfast they can just ask me!
