I've never understood the hate because A. there's quite obviously something between them, and denying that makes you BLIND and B. it's not getting in the way of Jack/Ianto anyway. The J/I relationship is so ambiguous, you can take it at any level you want, be in just sex or something more, so really, everyone wins.

I am annoyed with the MASSIVE DEFENSIVENESS from anyone who like Gwen or Jack/Gwen, though. I know it's not unfounded, but not EVERYONE in the fandom, even some J/I shippers, are going to jump down your throat for liking it.

I'd be a bigger Jack/Gwen shipper if I didn't love Rhys so much. :)

126. I find that I can't really judge him as a person anymore because he's become so badly written as a character.

The way stupid drug-war bullshit prevents people with chronic pain from getting relief is horrifying. But House (the show) does not really do them any favors with a mascot like House (the character). Not to mention the way his perfectly understandable need for medication is treated as a terrible addiction which must be stopped.

136. I... kinda agree. So many young girls participate in fandom, which is one of the reasons I tend to be outspoken about fandom's problematic elements. That and when things bug me, I say so. Fandom can have great transformative where women can celebrate other women, but female characters are also bashed or ignored too often.

Hey, "Women in the Refrigerator Syndrome" is out there. I just had a serious discussion with the president of my Sci-Fi club about it. I think things in the comic industry are changing, even if it seems to be taking its sweet time sometimes.

136 - But it's just that: fandom is mostly girls, and we're still 'like this.' You can write more about any good females in your fandom and sing their praises and whatnot, but if you might not get as many reviews because most of the favorite characters are male. But again, it's still cool, it's when people start bashing others for writing too much about the males and 'not enough' about the women that it gets to be a problem. (Like: who are you to tell me who to fangirl?) And sadly, this is where I see a movement like this going. (for a week before LJ finds something new to freak out over.)

I mean putting a little graphic on your facebook/LJ/myspace of a burning bra or 'I<3Feminism' is one thing, but being expected to read more fic about Elizabeth Weir when I'd rather read about McKay is quite another.
