I have the same issue with Hollywood movies. At least in those a few of the generic leading men types will have a different hair color.

Is there any chance you’re legit a bit face blind? If so you could try leading with that.

I had a similar issue when I started watching Cdramas and it was extra distracting because of the wigs. I think that's how I unconsciously identify and differentiate between actors - hair color and hair style, and in Asian dramas that's not as helpful of a marker. What helped me was focusing more on peoples' faces, the shapes of peoples' jawlines, eyes, nose, mouth, etc. I mean, I thought that's what I was doing before, but no.

You could try J-dramas? I've noticed they don't ascribe as hard to the perfect visual.

I do like historical C-dramas because a lot of the time the characters are color coded.
