124: Late comment, but yes, it is incredibly unfortunate that so many people know him only as Mr Bean. He's so much funnier when he speaks NOT TO MENTION that Blackadder II is one of the baddest, sexiest motherfuckers who ever lived.

Although I suppose it is yet another testament to how ridiculously talented he is that he's barely recognisable as the same person.

Yeah, Winston was genuinely attached to the idea of O'Brien (how could he not be?) and I think he wouldn't have been averse to some sort of relationship if O'Brien hadn't turned out to be... how he is.

Also, I believe O'Brien mentions at some point during the torture scene that he really liked Winston and wishes that it didn't have to be like this? Or something. Though this could have been just another part of his mindfuckery technique. Either way TOTAL SHIP MATERIAL RIGHT THERE

147- Read it. Even if you didn't know what fandom was, you should read it. Chances are, you'll like it. Hopefully love it. That in itself is worth the read.

I've never been in a fandom before because it has always kind of frightened me/not social/no ability to contribute from fear of rejection. I've read plenty of fic for years, but have always lurked. This is the first instance I've ever considered joining a fandom, and from my quiet creeping it seems like there is little to no backlash for the movie era fans. It seems like one of the most supportive fandoms I've had the pleasure to slink around in.

tl;dr- read, become fan, flail at the untouchable beauty like the rest of us. There's enough room for all kinds of flailing, new and old alike.

Not the OP, but I totally agree with it.

He's ... kind of a douchebag? Idk if that's OP's reason, but at cons I've found him to be generally rude/sulky/self-absorbed. And drunk. Epically drunk. Almost all the time. At D*C 08, he got into some drunken brawl at a private party and got kicked out of one of the con hotels.

I'd kind of find it hard to condone that behavior from anyone, honestly. It's kind of glass shatter when you realize your omg celeb crush is kind of a jerk.

112. I don't know this fandom at all, but if you're letting a BNF dictate what you can and cannot write, then maybe you shouldn't be writing at all because 1) you must not really have a *desire* to write and 2) what kind of writer bows down to censorship like that?

I have a feeling Yahtzee is really saying that she'll puke if there are ten million Mary Sue self-insert fics written, but I doubt anyone would not welcome a good OFC no matter what the fandom.

Yahtzee is a) a guy (just FYI) b) not a BNF, but the creator and sole author of the games in question. So his opinion is going to be somewhat important to fans, though you probably are right about what he really meant.

152. That movie never stops being amazing, and I thought Ramses character was beautifully fleshed out. His desire for his father's approval, his conflicted pride, his mourning over the loss of the brother he loved... gorgeous.

153. God, really? When I met GDL at Comic Con it just made me like him all the more. He was incredibly nice at the booth, he was funny at the panel; seeing him in person and in something besides a suit made me realize how BUFF he is; he wore fairy wings for a while, just for the lulz. I walked away from the experience being generally amazed at how awesome he is.

Seriously though, don't worry about being "a bad fan." The idea of judging someone as a 'better' or 'lesser' fan in itself is just ridiculous and petty of people. If you appreciate the themes and message of the book, wanting to read shippy fic about two characters doesn't cancel out your real appreciation of the rest.
