Mostly because I sort of consider the shows polar opposites. Think about it. Cop travelling back in time/cop sort of travelling forwards in time as he missed a lot when in jail, cop demoted back in time/cop promoted when forwards in time, cop leaves nice, spacious flat and gets a tiny one/cop leaves tiny cell and gets nice, spacious house, cop cries under stress/cop keeps zen under stress.
It's just too interesting for no one to look into!

Seriously, there's some great fic out there in my experience. I can't speak for the Arthur/Merlin stuff because I don't read a lot of it, but there's SO MUCH of that pairing that you can't expect it all to be fantastic. You should try to find some recs lists; that's the best way to filter through it. It's not my pairing but I know some people who write it who are brilliant.

123. I approve if only because this lends itself to Paul/George for the Lupin/Sirius fans and the John/Paul fans can go suck an egg. (Poor Ringo.) Though I'd switch George and Paul myself. Paul is far more Lupinish than George, and I think George is far, far more Siriusish than Paul. (And then Sirius/James--which I ship--can be John/George--which I also ship. Ha.)

But yeah. I've been in RPs where people've used John for James. It's always a bit weird, but it does work. I find that people who use Ringo for their Peter actually treat Peter better too, which is nice. He's so often villanized, but obviously he was friends with them once.

See, I think that John would be Wormtail (based on he was the first one who wanted out), Paul would be Padfoot(both wanted the good ol' days back), George would be Prongs (moved on and doing rather well) and Ringo would be Mooney (still with Padfoot and kinda melancholy).

123. Oh I've thought the same too, though honestly I think Sirius = John in terms of sheer force of personality, all manic yet broody, I dunno. They both seem to have the rawest sex appeal of their respective foursomes too;) I've seen some nice art and filks on that one giganto Harry Potter filk site. And I want this analogy to work so bad that my brain goes in to cognitive dissonance with Wormtail, like I just imagine him as an AU Wormy with a Ringo-ish sensibility about him and dear god I have too much time on my hands.
