Don't worry. Their relationship is the staple behind the movie.

Doubt it, I don't know what the beginning of their friendship is supposed to be from canon Trek - but this movie, in no way, glosses over the beginning of their friendship and how they come to be the men and the friends they are later.

In fact, it's kind of a pivotal part of the movie. I don't think you should be disappointed.

So... are you saying you've seen it?

I thought the song was generic but cute until I heard a 15-year old go, "I didn't bother reading Romeo and Juliet, because I know learned everything I needed to know about it from Taylor Swift!"

I don't blame Taylor Swift. She's just a teenager. But the song now makes me shudder mostly because the vast illiteracy of our culture really disturbs me greatly.

147. I'm only on the sidelines on the fandom, but I'm always glad to see Watchmen get more fans! The fandom itself pretty much formed with the movie, so people joining because of the movie is hardly surprising. (And I'd recommend reading the book first, as I think the movie's a little more cohesive knowing the details from the comic.)
