Re: Hair Decisions :)

I shave my underarms, because it's easier to wash off antiperspirant when there's no hair. I tried epilating (that machine that pulls the hair from the hair plugs), but I couldn't contort myself to a position where the skin was pulled tight enough that it didn't also get in between the "blades". That was painful and bloody.
I epilate my legs in summertime, when I wear shorts and sometimes in winter when the mood strikes me. I prefer the epilator to shaving because the results last longer, and it's not painful to me.
And I pluck my eyebrows. I like the fifties Hollywood star look, thin and high, dramatic arch. Obviously my brows don't grow quite that high XD, but I puck them to that shape. I hate the bushy thick brows that are in style these days. SMH. I think they're ugly. Of course it's not my business what other people do with their brows, it's just that I would never go for that look.

You're right, even though I agree with him/am not really a believer in the spiritual, he's definitely a total arsehole about it. In real life I mostly live and let live with that stuff unless I feel like someone is going to get conned out of a lot of money or is risking harm to themselves or whatever, then I might say something.

But it's a comedy show and everything is done for exaggeration, including Phoebe's kookiness and Ross being a jerk to her about it.

That's interesting about the cat episode though. Huh, never realised that before. He would've been within his rights to actually keep calling her out on that one seeing as it was someone's pet.

I am not even short! Why feet, why! Or at least give me some heat at winter or something

This was pretty much my experience too. And honestly, most of the tips above would not be helpful for me. They are too complicated and assume a level of knowledge that I don't have. The level 0 tips, the "explain it me like you would to a 5-year old" tips are the ones that I would need.
I recently found this blog post series that looks promising:
https://www.cooksmarts.com/articles/ultimate-infographic-guide-spices/
I haven't had a time to try much of their tips yet though.

Clown on clown violence. Two incredibly famous, wealthy and powerful men behave badly in public? There's literally no one looking good. After a little rubber-necking it's boring.

I'm actually old enough to remember when the news about Polanski was new. People aren't talking about this more than Polanski. They're just talking about it more recently.

Ugh, I have that too. I figure I'm clear to give up on it at 70, if I haven't killed the follicle by then.

If you have been toying with the idea of adding spices to your food and are not sure where to start, then all I can suggest is get yourself 3 basic spices such as

1. cinnamon stick
2. coriander powder and
3. cumin powder
These three spices are very versatile and have a subtle flavour.

They can be easily added to many dishes and not just Indian meals.

Few tips on to begin adding these spices to your meals are:

- Throw in a cinnamon stick while you boil the soup broth.
- Add a tsp or two of cumin powder to your stews and soups
- Add coriander powder to dressings and rubs
- Marinade your meat with a mix of cumin and coriander powder.
- Add a stick of cinnamon when you cook rice
- Make a little blend of cinnamon powder, cumin powder and coriander powder and add a tsp to make a basic curry sauce with onion, ginger, garlic and tomatoes.

Following these tips will help you become comfortable with spices and slowly you can build your spice cabinet.

My suggestion is to start with the dishes you have already made before and alter the recipes by adding a tsp or two of your chosen spice and taste the difference.

I'm AFAB and pretty hairy and I don't shave anything. I tried to when I was younger, but I've always felt it was "wrong" doing that to MY body. Now at 30+ years old I identify as a butch lesbian who adores her very hairy legs. Haven't shaved anything in years, now. I just pluck the occasional coarse chin hair. I wish I had more armpit hair, but nature unfortunately didn't provide.

Nobody asked this, but I'm still going to share bacause I have a personal agenda (lol): I don't care what others do with their body and grooming habits, but I personally find unshaved armpits on women incredibly sexy. (not on men because, again, I'm a lesbian.)

I haven't seen a single article yet that hasn't said the joke was in bad taste.

Early Phoebe was definitely too much. I feel she did become slightly less of a caricature as the show went on. On the other hand, Ross became worse and more one-note as the show went on. So there might be something of a recency/memory bias, too.

But really, my least favorite was Rachel.

Heeeeee!!

I hate Ross more by a fair margin, but lol your description of Phoebe is spot on.

*shrugs* Everyone I know, love, and respect IRL is of the same opinion on this one, so like, congrats on stating your opinion, but I don't actually value it.

As another hairy AFAB 30+ lesbian who doesn't shave, I am taking notes.

Personally, I don't mind the age gap, but screwing around with your son's friend is really trashy. Have some respect for your son, damn.

I first read this one in my teens and absolutely loved it.

This is by far the worst take I've seen and sadly way too common. Jada is the ONLY person in this situation that didn't do anything wrong except not laughing and smiling at a tasteless joke about her medical condition. Cameras were on them & none of them showed her saying anything to Will.

(Anonymous) 2022-04-08 08:14 pm (UTC)(link)
you were doing okay until "men suck"

(Anonymous) 2022-04-08 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
as somebody who made an entire documentary about black women's hair, chris really should have known better

(Anonymous) 2022-04-08 08:26 pm (UTC)(link)
if she was a cancer patient there's no way in hell people would have debated if it was 'alright' to make the joke. she's got a chronic illness yet because it's been deemed 'not as bad' somehow it's completely fine to make jokes about it? hair loss is a sensitive subject person-to-person as it is, even more so when coupled with a long term illness.

(Anonymous) 2022-04-08 10:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh shit, I didn’t even realize that when I wrote it lol!

This

(Anonymous) 2022-04-08 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Everyone you know, love, and respect IRL is irrelevant to this, and still only makes your opinion based on anecdotal beliefs. I don’t care whether you value my opinion, I’m aware that most don’t anyways, and that’s fine. I don’t value your opinion either, and neither does most others on the internet. That’s kind of how this whole thing works. But I’m sure you thought it was supposed to be a sick burn to tell me you don’t care. Everyone you know~ means nothing, and it’s sad that you even bring that up like it should. “You don’t agree? Well I don’t care, because my family knows I’m totally right”. I know you didn’t intend for it to sound like that, but it kind of does. *shrugs*

And just to be clear, I don’t have much against your first paragraph. It’s your second paragraph that’s a bad take. Chris Rock told a terrible joke, and he’s previously made fun of Jada’s condition before. But just because Will did something bad, you’re glorifying this spiteful, tasteless joke, and treating Chris like a poor innocent person who did nothing wrong, instead of a rich and famous comedian with just as much culpability here. That’s kind of dumb. Nobody should be slapped for telling jokes, but jokes aren’t exempt from criticism. And the people criticizing Chris as well as Will are the ones who actually have perspective on this situation, unlike the people arguing about who’s right and who’s wrong like they both can’t be wrong.
