Why would you go to hell? If you have trouble understanding someone for *whatever* reason, then...you have trouble. It's not like you're saying she shouldn't be on the show or her voice doesn't count or something, just that you have trouble with the way she speaks. It is what it is.

Whenever she comes on I have to switch off. She's in a career which is 95% about timing and clearly and concisely leading you down one path then subverting your expectations. Which just does not work when you have the time to work out the punchline whilst she's still struggling through the setup. It always makes me think of that old meme

"the guard looks at you with a troubled uncomfortable glare like that of a man who must explain to his paraplegic daughter that her dreams of becoming a ballerina will never come true"

Then again her twitter might even be less funny then her """comedy""". The fact that the only people who ever say she's made them laugh are exactly the people you imagine would claim she's funny makes me even more sure of my opinions.

I don't watch TV, but she's fucking great on podcasts. I think people are sensitive about whether they find her funny, and she gets fewer words per minute than most comedians. So automatically people are actually watching out for how often they laugh and stuff and they seem to judge her unfairly harshly for it. She's not quick with a punchline but her timing is fucking hilarious and she's so much fun? God I can't imagine being sensitive enough to judge her (not you OP! you're having actual trouble, but why not just use the TV subtitles?) when there's shit like Mrs Brown's Boys on the telly.

For me she works best when she leans into the timing issues, or says something that was definitely meant to shock (and you probably already guessed) but it has a different slant to it because so many people have difficulty accepting that people with a disability can be filthy, are sexual beings etc.

Also it's not a failing to need subtitles. Personally the more I was exposed to her speaking, the better I'm tuned into it.

I don't know about the quiz show format but she seems perfectly intelligible in her standup routines. Comedians always set their own pace when they're performing solo so you can get used to slower delivery. Also not seeing much yelling and screeching there.

Maybe you could just pick a word and write your fic, and then find a word you like later. Or maybe by the time you've finished writing it, you won't mind it so much.

I feel ya, though: I'm stuck on something right now because I can't come up with a name, and it's driving me nuts, but...I can't move forward without the name, and that's pretty much that.

I don't think they really got quiet. That argument popped up at least once or twice whenever a complaint about the last season and/or Dany's poorly handled descent into madness was mentioned.

Also, people just don't mention GoT much these days since the last season crashed and burned, so that's probably part of it.
