Sadly I think the only thing that I can think of that scratches that itch is comedy shows made by actual Scottish comedians/actors. And the comedy scene is very Glasgow-centric, which is a problem in itself. I am in Glasgow so no shade, but we're not the entirety of Scotland.

Anyway, the earlier (pre-comeback) seasons of Still Game are pretty good for addressing things like pensioner poverty but it isn't the ONLY thing about the characters, most of the time it's just them being daft wee pals together despite their age.

Reading your secret, the only show I could think of that didn't fit into one of those categories was The Young Person's Guide to Becoming a Rock Star. You're right, there should definitely be more variety.

I don't think Gege Akutami has enjoyed working on Jujutsu Kaisen for awhile now. It sounds so rough pushing out so many volumes of comics within such a short time frame.

This is how I feel about Doctor Who too, but I started watching it during Ten’s run. I’ve seen most of the Classic episodes and I really like a lot of them. There’s something comforting about the show and if a twist annoys me, I can just ignore it and move on.

I used to feel this way about The Simpsons, but eventually I stopped watching it because it just wasn’t fun for me anymore. I grew up with that show though, so it’s hard to give the new episodes a chance when I have such nostalgia for the older ones (plus Marge sounds horrible in the newer episodes).

I get this. If you’re going t deconstruct tropes you find dumb, others are going to find it weird when you use other tropes straight and without criticism, just because you don’t mind those. It’s not the best deconstruction that way, although it would admittedly be a very unfocused narrative if you were going to deconstruct EVERY trope you use. Still though, it’s a tad hypocritical to give tropes you like a pass.
