How I Met Your Mother and Game of Thrones will probably always top.

Before Criminal Minds came back again for Evolution, I would have said CM because I really hated season 15.

Wizard of Oz, movie version, making it all a dream.

The Rise of Skywalker was a terrible way to end the main Star Wars saga.

Basically everything that happens to Peter Parker in No Way Home. Fuck that, didn't happen.

Steve's ending in Endgame.

Rachel staying with Ross and not going to Paris on Friends.

The entirety of the Gilmore Girls revival sounds like it sucks (I haven't seen it and I'm not going to), but I particularly hate having it end with Rory knocked up.

That horrible, sleazy "Eggsy gets anal sex from a hot chick in appreciation for saving the world" scene from Kingsman. It was such a good, fun movie, right up until that final few seconds. It was like they stuck the landing--and then took a shit on the mat. :/

Supernatural. I'm still mad about that terrible finale, from Sam's blurry wife and bad wig to Dean's dumb fate and not seeing Castiel. :(((((((((((

Haunting of Hill House - the book

Like, if I didn't have respect for books I would have fucking tossed that shit across the room. It seemed like such an out of left field wanker ending. If she was so obsessed/controlled, why not just stay? Why drive into a fucking tree?

I don't know, maybe it's some existential shit that I am too dumb to understand but it was such a good book until that and I am still bitter like... however many years it's been since I read it lol.

I'm still pissed about ST: Voyager because they went all amatonormative. Everyone had to be paired off, even if some of the ending couples rarely interacted generally, much less romantically, in the show.

A lot of books I read in elementary and middle school:

Midnight Hour Encores - Protag gives up her dream of going to a prestigious music school which she'd spent the entire book on a roadtrip with her dad to get to, because the trip made her realize she loves her dad more than the school. ??? Phone calls and visits are a thing, idiot. The awfulness of the ending is somewhat lessened by the protag being an insufferable shit throughout the whole book, so it's hard to be sad that she's throwing her future away. It's just dumb and frustrating.

A Solitary Blue - Protag concludes mom is bad person, and feminism and environmentalism made her a bad mom (she was a bad mom, but not an evil person outside of that and blaming it on her concern for social issues really ruined what could've been a good message about cutting off toxic family)

The Sara Summer - Protag lies to her mom to protect her "best friend" and wonders why she ever thought best friend was a manipulative bully (hint: because she was, and did not get better at the end except for maybe the fact that she won't try to get her sister run over by a train again but you know, bar's so low it's underground at that point)

Better to ask what did end well* because something about the 2010's just gave us the WORST endings imaginable.

They should have gone with the original ending of the Birds. Alfred Hitchcock was so well-established in his career at that point and he was still having his movies interfered with by suits.
Also, I otherwise loved The Best Offer and the Purple Rose of Cairo but the ends of those movies were such awful clusterfucks I could never bring myself to watch either one again.

I watched My Sister's Keeper and heard that the ending was different from the book, so I looked up the book ending and I'm so glad they changed it from that terrible book ending that seemed to make everything that came before it pointless.

Also, not wild about the Harry Potter epilogue.

Pay It Forward had such a bullshit ending that seemed to go directly against the message of the movie.

Sliver, what an inane and unsatisfying ending to an already mediocre movie.

The ending of How I Met Your Mother was so out of step with the actual characters and story that it's almost unbelievable. They had gone so far beyond a time when that ending would have been viable and satisfying, it's like if Elle Woods had ended up with Warner.

Roseanne's ending was so damn depressing and needless, rendering that whole last unnecessary season irrelevant.

Young me was enthralled with the world depicted in His Dark Materials, until suddenly at the end of the Amber Spyglass it was a romance and I clocked the fuck out. It actually ruined the whole thing for me. And then it constantly getting praise/recs and visual adaptations over the years made me feel like I was broken for not "getting it" so I gained more reasons to hate it. I should probably reread them now that I understand that I'm autistic AND aroace and probably missed a lot of contextual hints, but I have so many better things I could be doing with my time than reading something I already know ends in a heteronormative romance.

Quantum Leap.

1.) Sam controlling the leaps "all along" was stupid.
2.) Beth did not fucking deserve Al so it's horseshit that he got to have a happily ever after with her, something that I screamed about when watching the new series. I liked Janice, and I get that Dean Stockwell passed like right before the first season wrapped so he couldn't have made an appearance, but Beth "I was going to divorce him but then he got orders to ship off so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ " Calavicci? C'mooooon.
3.) I refuse to believe that the project just never succeeded in getting Sam back home, on top of the kick in the shins that was misspelling his name.

Break out the French fries because I'm a salty motherfricker.

I just finished How to Sell a Haunted House and as the angry anon of The Haunting of Hill House above, I realised I don't read enough horror at all lol.

Any horror recs? Don't need to be new release and I am more partial to supernatural or 'humans are really the evil ones' than like... existential type horror like the Babadook or things like that where it's metaphors.

Oldie but goody: Carrie (Stephan King). It's one of the three of his books that I just love, and re-read a lot. The ending in particular, the scene between Carrie and Sue Snell.....*flails*.

I read almost no horror, so - that's all i got. :D

If one of your characters in your ship is genderless/nonbinary/etc - what is the right tag to use? Multi or Other?
I've been using other for some time now, but the way its described in the FAQ makes me wonder if I have been tagging my fics wrong this entire time:

Unpopular And Incorrect Vent

Part of me feels very annoyed about all of the professional writers complaining about how they don't make enough money and they want to go on strike so they can make more money.

You know what? You knew that writing mostly doesn't make any money when you went into it. And you know that there are legions and legions of people out there who would be ready to do your job for lower wages in a second.

You know why? Because writing is cool. That's the whole reason you went into it! Because it's creatively satisfying, and because it's cool when people know that you're a professional writer and you get to feel cool and respected and admired.

So you've been getting all of those social wages of being admired and respected for being a writer, and you knew that was the deal when you went into the profession - so stop telling me how badly off you are because you don't make enough money. Of course I still support the strike, but don't give me this "poor little me" schtick.
