Given that the vast majority of trans men do not get bottom surgery, because phalloplasty is an incredibly difficult surgery with a surfeit of complications and a low rate of success, even in real life the trans man is almost never the One Who Penetrates. Do you think most sex between trans men and cis men is just people trying to pass off hetero sex as gay sex?

The entire notion that these fics are problematic is based on two premises: first, that to be a man is to be a penetrator; and second, that it's the man, as penetrator, who is in charge of the action. The only way for a trans man to prove their manliness, in this framework, is to perform the exact trad essentialist bullshit that you claim not to want.

There are plenty of gay cis guys that prefer to bottom. The trans guy can certainly take it in the ass, though. Or whatever the character likes, but some people just like being dicked and not doing the dicking.

I'm a cis woman and I've strapped a dick on myself, too, but I don't really enjoy it physically because there are no...nerve endings in a strapon? It's for the bottom to enjoy in that situation.

You're a cis woman equating your irl personal preferences with choices of how to portray a character. *You* didn't enjoy topping physically, so it's "for the bottom to enjoy" apparently. Let's just ignore everyone who enjoys topping that way... and let's keep ignoring that multiple things can be true. Yes, trans people have sex in all kinds of ways. Yes, a lot of trans fic often plays with gender dynamics and gender related kinks, you have to be stupid to not admit that it's there. That doesn't make it bad, sometimes I can enjoy that aspect myself, but it isn't everyone's cup of tea.

It's not problematic or whatever to do a fic where a trans guy bottoms but it is understandable that people are uncomfortable with it being the default approach or just disinterested in the scenario. This preference against it really doesn't need to be defended so hard, especially by cis people, thanks.

The idea that "to fuck" is "to penetrate" is the sexist take, here -- that the only way to be the active party rather than the passive one (the one *getting* fucked) is to have some implement that's being inserted into someone else's body; and that the one who's passive is necessarily a woman, not a man, because to be a man is to insert implements, and to be a woman is to havd implements inserted. Do you think if a trans man is sitting on his partner's face that he's not fucking said partner? Do you think if two men are engaging in frottage to completion, then neither of them has fucked?

Something like two thirds of gay men don't have anal sex because they don't like it. Are they not real gay men, and can none of them be said to be fucking?

They would like the vagina haver to do things you don't normally see vagina havers do in M/F sex. Cause this is M/M sex.

What I'm arguing is that thinking a trans man *must* have a dick of some sort, and must put that dick in something, is essentialism; and that thinking a trans man is somehow less of a man, somehow still a woman, if he has PIV sex, as if womanhood is completely defined by having a vagina and manhood is completely defined by having a penis, is sexist. I don't see any way around that.
