I don't imagine many people are daydreaming about that role to fulfill when thinking of Rivendell.

On the flip side, I am a weirdo that genuinely enjoys being in hospitality/customer service so I'm sure that is a plus for some ither lotr weirdos!

I think Rivendell is beautiful but unless I could like not be a part of the hosting staff I wouldn't want to live there, otherwise I've always wanted to live in Lothlorien with Galadriel's people. And as an elf obviously as I wouldn't be allowed there if I wasn't.

Tell me you've never read the books...

Rivendell isn't a rotating door of hosting guests. They can go literal decades without anyone new showing up. The brief window of months before the Council of Elrond is a literal anomaly based on a bunch of random prophecies and escalation of Sauron's plans coalescing simultaneuosly; most of the time Rivendell is as Frodo describes, a place where you can forget the passage of time entirely as the residents just don't care whether you live there or not. They don't have celebratory banquets every night. Fans desire to visit Rivendell because it's all the benefit of visiting a friend, none of the drawbacks of being in hotel services.

I am just really amused by this whole secret. Majestic dolphin, the horniness, the whole thing is just top tier amusement. But I also find the random unexpected strong attractions like this pretty funny in general. I felt like this about one actor in one specific scene and I was shocked by the stregth of my reaction. Like, really brain? Where did this even come from? Lol

No disrespect to OP, but how would Phoebe respect Dan when the show itself didn't? The Charmed (understandably) barely respected any male character except maybe Cole, and that's debatable. And a side note: Greg Vaughan was/is foine!

Honestly, the way Xenoblade's combat is described always put me off from it, but actually playing it isn't nearly as bad. (Minus the difficulty spike in X, but I still managed to squeak by...)

No, it is not 'immoral' for women to write M/M.

Just like it is not immoral for male writers to write female characters, or for cis writers to write trans characters, or for trans writers to write cis characters. Just like it is not immoral for adult writers to write teenage characters, or for teenage writers to write elderly characters, or for writers of one race or colour or religion to write characters of another.

Writing about characters, experiences, perspectives and situations that are not our own is part of the point of writing in the first place.

And even if none of those things were true, fanfiction is not representation, period. So the whole conversation is moot before it even starts.

It's really not that serious. I have sometimes felt disrespected by fic that came across as homophobic and by homophobic behavior of women in fandom who liked m/m but who had a problem with gay guys IRL, that type of thing sucks and gets you on my block list quick. And yes some fic is fetish-y but nsfw fic in general is, the mere existence of fetishistic m/m erotica doesn't bother me at all. It is definitely possible for people to engage with it in a hurtful or like, kind of rude way but it's not wrong IMO to simply like the character dynamics of two guys together or find the mental image of the guys fucking hot. I would never call you immoral for fantasizing about m/m.

My goodness, a Knightmare secret! As a British 90's kid, Knightmare was a huge deal for me and me and my brother used to wake up early to watch it on whatever weird channel it was on. Dad adored it too.

I binged on a fantastic indie dungeon-crawler earlier this year called Cryptmaster and was delighted to hear Hugo Myatt as narrator. His voice is something else.
